Marcon got rid of the inheritance tax, cut worker's rights, and reduced the capital gains tax. He also tried to raise the retirement age but people protested so much, it was blocked eventually.

How is this socialist policy?

Is it okay for Russia to influence elections in the EU or the US by spreading misinformation?

This is also an instance of a group using its power.

Wero [1] is build on the Dutch iDEAL system and is currently on an upwards trajectory with both banks and retail [2].

I wouldn't bet on hardware flooding the market. I bet the machines running in the data centers don't use traditional PCIe connectors and cards. Maybe somebody could pull the chips and put them on standardized PCIe cards, but that is not a given.
As far as I know, you don't need DataGrip if you already have Rider. The same functionality is already inside Rider.
Many larger businesses have a contract with Microsoft for their Windows licenses and then go to Azure because they already get billed by them.

Quite a few places do not accept Amex and many that do probably don't know they do or they would disable it.
Microsoft fumbled the Windows ball so hard, everybody i know got rid of their Windows PC and either went to Android/iPhone or got a Mac or Linux.

At work we can freely choose which OS we run on our machines. Guess what everybody wants since IT got forced to upgrade each laptop to Windows 11? Macbook Pro.

I personally am running Linux just because I already know how to use it but macOS (despite its flaws) is way less intrusive and much faster than Windows. Even Microsoft's own programs (Office 365, Teams) are running faster and have better UX on macOS than on Windows.

Are you using the Windows Terminal app? CMD or Powershell are yanky but Windows Terminal solved a few icks for me.

Russia is currently placing Russian citizens in the occupied parts of Ukraine exactly for this reason. If there will ever be a vote whether the Donbas Oblast or the Luhansk Oblast want to rejoin Ukraine, you can bet the vote will be pro Russia.
Same in Germany, although the employer can forbid this but needs to do this explicitly. Most employers don't forbid personal data on work machines or using your work email for personal things.
It also has something to do with the so called "Hackerparagraph" [1] under which whitehat hacking is basically impossible in Germany. Even writing a program that could potentially be used for hacking is a crime. If you followed the law word for word the authors of e.g. curl could be charged under this law.

It does. You can also do it by hand via the right-click on tab menu
Not illegal per se in Germany but you won't find a legal job that doesn't require you to have a bank account. Benefits will also only be paid electronically (exceptions for some asylum seekers apply).

You also cannot get a tax refund or pay taxes without a bank account.

A study last year concluded that while AI coding feels faster it actually isn't. At least in mid 2025.

Not only that but vibrations play a big part as well, especially on ICE vehicles.
Re:I Fixed Windows Native Development on Sunday February 15, 2026 @10:00AM (#47024230)
Since .NET 10 still doesn't support Type Libraries quite a few new Windows projects must be written in .NET Framework.

Microsoft sadly doesn't prioritize this so this might still be the case for a couple of years.

One thing I credit MS for is that they make it very easy to use modern C# features in .NET Framework. You can easily write new Framework assemblies with a lot of C# 14 features. You can also add a few interfaces and get most of it working (although not optimized by the CLR, e.g. Span). For an example see this project: https://www.nuget.org/packages/PolySharp/

It's also easy to target multiple framework with the same code, so you can write libraries that work in .NET programs and .NET Framework programs.

Re:I Fixed Windows Native Development on Sunday February 15, 2026 @08:51AM (#47023646)
That's not correct. You don't have to give your credit card details or even be logged in but you are still required to have any Visual Studio license. For hobbyists and startups the VS Community license is enough but larger companies need a VS Professional license even for the VS Build Tools.

How strict Microsoft is with enforcement of this license is another story.

But they also have over a billion cash at hand. I imagine at that scale and customers being private, the amount is pretty stable and Starbucks can just do whatever with this since it's extremely unlikely that customers demand all their money back at once.
Re:Germany's Merz Admits Nuclear Exit Was Strategic Mistake on Friday January 16, 2026 @11:51PM (#46655333)
This is typical CDU conservative talk from Merz. He is on a war path with anything Angela Merkel did because she saw him as politically inexperienced and shunned him. So he had to work for Blackrock.

The CSU (the Bavarian equivalent and permanent coalition partner of the CDU) is also demanding to reactivate nuclear power plants but at the same time is not willing to store any spent nuclear fuel. The CSU is also notoriously anti renewables and does not want new power lines in their "beautiful scenery" to get the renewable power from northern Germany to Bavaria.

I don't know what you are doing but I have my Arch Linux running since about 2013. I needed to intervene a few times, I think 4 times in total but the base installation in from 2013, now nearly 13 years ago.
Re:After 15 Years, I Use Outlook as My Build Pipeline on Wednesday November 26, 2025 @02:09PM (#46061199)
Sometimes it's not about doing nothing but only being allowed to do the same stuff over and over again to do because there is "no budget" to rewrite the codebase to automate the process.

Google will require you to authenticate with your real name and/or government ID which is something a lot of FLOSS developers don't want to do.
Re:OpenWrt: A Linux OS targeting embedded devices on Monday September 08, 2025 @02:56PM (#45172309)
OpenWISP states in its docs that you should be running at least 20 devices to make it worth it. [1] So it's not supposed to be a easy way to manage a few devices for home users.

> However, OpenWISP may not be the best fit for very small networks (fewer than 20 devices), organizations lacking IT expertise, or enterprises seeking open-source alternatives solely for cost-saving purposes.

Try replacing "social media" with "fast food" and think about how hard that would be for parents to control.
Are you driving fast(er than with a ICE vehicle) in corners? Since EVs have a very low center of mass, drivers tend to take corners a lot faster than they would in ICE vehicles which is very hard on the tires.

A friend got hit by this as well and since readjusting his driving style (read: not flying through corners for the fun of it) he gets more (but still not equal) miles on his EV's tires before he needs new ones.

True for heating but warm water is in demand all the time.
Using heatpumps you only need a little electricity to heat quite a few homes with district heating.

But there probably is no nearby district to be heated.
