>All beds have at lest 2m

As another tall person here, the length of the matress/bed is not as critical as what comes when the bed ends. 2m matresses with a wall/bedend that is massive is way more umfortable for a tall person then a 1,9m matress with 20cm of air behind it.

>just like in aviation business class

Yeah but im not flying lay-down business class when i want to go Hamburg-Vienna because the trip is only 90mins. I fly lay-down business when going trans-atlantic or to asia.

Re:Bandcamp's Entire Union Bargaining Team Was Laid Off on Thursday October 19, 2023 @09:11AM (#37942417)
i just did and almost missed it. it looks like ads for albums except there is a small "feature" string. i'm honestly not sure i ever visited this page before. always went directly to the band site.

to understand my POV better, my usecase is: - band that i like and follow (mostly newsletter, some social media, rarely friends that mention it drecty) sends an update "hey new stuff, click here" - i click the link, listen a bit, buy and download

Re:Bandcamp's Entire Union Bargaining Team Was Laid Off on Thursday October 19, 2023 @09:01AM (#37942302)
what did they edit? im honestly curious as in my perception bandcamp is something that i get a link to from a band and that i then use to buy music. have problably spent a couple of 100 € over the years there.

Re:Digging In: Why Don’t Americans Eat Mutton? on Wednesday September 27, 2023 @06:14AM (#37672641)
germany has a big tradition of eating raw minced pork (mettbrötchen - bread roll with raw minced pork, diced onions salt and pepper). and its perfectly safe because the food safety laws are so strict. its so safe that even gas station variations of this are very popular
Re:OpenBSD/ARM64 on Hetzner Cloud on Thursday September 21, 2023 @09:24AM (#37597259)

Re:Tell HN: Airbnb’s transparent pricing is a lie on Tuesday August 01, 2023 @05:12AM (#36953996)

Re:HBO Max new Captcha system on Tuesday May 30, 2023 @05:28AM (#36122843)
it gets worse when you factor in translation problems.

lets take google/recaptcha/hcaptcha image captchas. english: "click on the images with bikes" this could mean motorbikes or bicycles in english.

in german it says "klicken sie die bilder mit den fahrrädern". fahrrad meaning bicycle exklusively! a motorbike would be "motorrad". then the images will show no bicycles so you skip - wrong - so you click on the motorbikes - wrong - oh there is one image that shows a (german) "motoroller" (a scooter) maybe they mean that? click - correct

this goes on an on and on. they have so many problems with their translations its infurating. i stopped filling them out when not absolutely necessary

Re:MRI Brain Images Just Got 64M Times Sharper on Wednesday April 19, 2023 @06:15AM (#35626396)

Re:Ask HN: ChatGPT Can Write Tetris – Who Is Liable? on Monday April 17, 2023 @04:31AM (#35598136)
dont have to refine. but it needs multiple answers as the code is too long. but i have managed a 3 or 4 response tetris clone in HTML/JS
even with an older model like the g603 you cant tell the difference anymore

Re:ChatGPT broke the EU plan to regulate AI on Monday March 06, 2023 @05:33AM (#35039437)
yeah gdpr is just a standartisation of the different member states data privacy laws.
yeah but you are not the target audience. we dont a a self-managed sign up because none of our target customers have the capabilities to pay the prices with a credit card because their companies have purchasing departments that do this for them.

there are so many layers for these companies before they can buy anthing above a certain threshold its insane.

data privacy/compliance questions alone make this insanely difficult

Re:Ask HN: What API's do people wanna buy/pay for? on Wednesday February 01, 2023 @04:20AM (#34608256)

Re:Insulation: First the body, then the home (2011) on Wednesday February 01, 2023 @04:19AM (#34608250)
yeah but in my opinion in modern homes this is automated and regulated house-wide with the mentioned air circulators that recover the energy. they also expell humidity afaik
Re:Is remote work bad for the economy? on Wednesday February 01, 2023 @04:17AM (#34608235)
but the multipliers were also different. with saving a house was realistically affordable for a single income household. today? in many regions not at all unless you save 20 years or have a windfall event like an inheritance
Re:Ask HN: What API's do people wanna buy/pay for? on Tuesday January 31, 2023 @08:51AM (#34594969)
>steam game hour idlers

could you elaborate on that? what does this do exactly? idle for example on tf2 servers for drops but you dont have to run your own pc for that?

Re:Insulation: First the body, then the home (2011) on Tuesday January 31, 2023 @08:10AM (#34594595)
there are a lot of available ventilation solutions that recover the energy and cycle air in your use. they start at 200€ a unit and go up from there.

i think the modern cooking extractors are all built into the countertops and just filter the air. at least thats the trend in germany

Re:Ask HN: What companies offer part-time positions? on Thursday December 15, 2022 @03:44AM (#33996831)
>under certain circumstances

its basically: be 6 months in the company when the company has more than 15 FTE.

the company can deny it but its the same as the "Nebentätigkeit" thing where the reasons have to be substantial and its not that easy.

Re:Bird Is Laying Off 23% of Its Staff on Wednesday June 08, 2022 @07:08AM (#31665674)
>including from companies that were hiring as recently as two weeks ago.

hiring new people is often decided at the department level. hiring freeze and big layoffs come from the very top. two weeks ago the department heads had probably no idea

i tried to use it out of curiosity but the documentation was really lacking and the workflow of creating the networks is bad
> There was no cash. ATMs we’re dry.

paypal, venmo, cashapp etc would have worked the same. for all of them and for crypto you need to be in the ecosystem (need wallets, accounts, apps etc) and internet access.

Re:Swisscom to discontinue MMS service on Thursday February 10, 2022 @05:48AM (#30284573)
the main online selling plattform in germany (ebay-kleinanzeigen) has a messenger integrated that everybody just uses for this reason. almost everyything else happens in whatsapp. yes youhave some people on signal/threema/telegram but virtually everybody has whatsapp.
