My ex-partner and I used to have "drink it and fix it" on Sunday evenings where she would bring stuff out for me to fix and we'd slowly get pissed! Some things remained fixed, some things, erm, needed re-fixing!

The misophonia isn't a bad place to start: https://www.reddit.com/r/misophonia/

I've watched a few episodes of DOAC so I'll watch that. I know my chronotype but that's about all so it'll be interesting so what they say!

Re:Pink noise reduces REM sleep and may harm sleep quality on Monday February 16, 2026 @12:13AM (#47031138)
My ex-partner has tinnitus and saw a psychologist who specialised in tinnitus. The psychologist suggested she buy a machine that generates a sound slightly quieter than her tinnitus which retrains the brain not to hear the tinnitus. So she bought a machine that generated about 15 different sounds and settled on a pink-ish sound and played while she slept. It took a couple of years but it effectively "cured" her tinnitus. It drove me mad for a while but after a while I didn't notice it.

The machine had different sounds because the sound of tinnitus is different for different people: hers sounded like cicadas, a sound I quite like but she hates!

I have misophonia and used to live in a house where a coffee van would start a generator at 0530 so I used a fan to help drown out the sound. I could still hear the generator but I could sleep through. It fundamentally changed the quality of my life.

Likewise and if people say, "why don't you google that?" I usually reply (obviously to everyone's annoyance:-) "I don't use Google". The general response is a blank, uncomprehending look.
Looking up the binary in the package management system would also provide another source of useful information. Of course this would dramatically increase the complexity but would, I think, be useful.

If you could look it up using APT/dpkg first, that would be lovely :-)

Contempt is very different to hate.
Thank you. This is what I was looking for.

What a lovely sentence.

Agreed,Bandcamp is good, very good.
The wound was about 6mm deep on my heel and took months to heal properly. And yes I did check those homophones :-)

And thanks for the other homophone correction!

Millions of years!
I had a planter wart surgically removed which they packed with Manuka honey and because it's a deep open wound it needs to heal from the inside. I changed the dressing and repacked it every few days for weeks and the wound was absolutely pristine ever time.

I live in the tropics where people die because due to infection which makes it even more interesting that they use honey.

"they" say "I haven't got a car".

Contractions are common in Australian English to, though becoming less so due to the influence of US English.

We used to pay AU$30 for the entire house which included everything except cooking but it did include a 10 year 1RU rack Mount server. Electricity isn't particularly cheap here.
I've been using sqitch for years and haven't had any problems with it. Though they haven't been big projects with lots of devs so I may be using in it's sweet spot.

I love Stig of the Dump. I read it at school and whilst I have very memories of my childhood I do remember reading it. I can quite imagine living in a dump/tip with old jam jars as my window!

It's good to actually see even a mention of control theory.

My degree was electronics and control theory and whilst I've only had one job that involved either electronics or control theory I often think about software in these terms: I genuinely think that as an industry we need to seriously consider the systems we build in control theoretic terms.

I reckon, yeah.

From this article[1] writing a FUSE filesystem doesn't look that hard.

I might give it a go this weekend. Assuming I remember!

So the question begs: how hard would this be to write.

Because I want it!
