They are attempting to fix an inherent problem with the technology via epicycles.
Re:Postgres 19 is late, and it's AI's fault on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @09:53AM (#50352752)
Exactly. All tech debt is incurred from a loan shark at injurious interest rates. By definition, tech debt harms the development of a project until it is paid off, and the harm increases faster with more debt.

If you think those are buggy, you should see the first-party mappings of the CLI to the GUI!
But I know someone who has. Which makes me wonder if I could, despite it being anecdata.

I, for one, enjoy my free water and electricity, which are all free because they're an essential part of society.

Can't have those any more with the slop machines all up in there.
That's because you're still getting $8,000/month of compute for $200/month!
I'd like to meet Noone someday. He's done so many amazing things.

Noone always gets it right, Noone went there after that horrible incident, Noone actually dances like that...

Here's a recent one about the CO2 stunner at UW-Madison, where a student snuck in and recorded it being used on pigs.

Re:AI is a tool and using it well takes skill on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @04:28PM (#50078225)
The problem I have is that any time I ask about things in or adjacent to my own areas of expertise, it gets something important about those things wrong around 1/3 of the time.

I've also had a number of experiences asking it e.g. "where do I disable this behavior on MacOS", it being confidently wrong until I finally show it a screenshot proving it wrong, only for it to backpedal and say, "Oh, I see, I was thinking of iOS."

If you're trying to learn, confidently bad information is worse than no information. There was no "deep dive" unless you exit the chat and actually check real sources.

I'm surprised Levin's stuff doesn't show up here more often. He's a computer scientist turned medical researcher, and routinely finds things that pose hard questions for physicalism in addition to being frontier advancements in cancer treatment, among other things. He's part of a company that wants to re-grow human limbs! They've already done it with frogs, and even wilder stuff!

Anyone who likes The Thought Emporium should watch his talk and branch out from there; you'll be amazed.

My only quibble with this comment is your use of the word "earned".
The Supreme Court Citizens United decision that allowed money to flood into campaigns.
This is exactly why they want a televised execution.
Which explains their recent rule change re: beastiality...
Ah, so the IS hope of the Epstein Files being fully released after all!
Fitting; he yaps for cash
I can't recall where I saw it, there's at least one company working on this issue specifically for nursing staff. Everything beeps in hospitals, but there's no rhyme or reason to it, so room call responses are delayed, serious alarms can be missed, etc.

IIRC, the company's idea is to create a harmonious sound bed when everything's fine, and make different kinds of "out of the norm" alerts use a variety of sounds so that nursing staff get more info about what's wrong before finding the thing thats sounding an alert and looking at its screen.

OpenAI Codex was released in 2021. Artificially compressing what we see now to one year of growth is an example of why it's very hard to trust anything AI proponents say.

In practice, it is screen-scraping on meth. Horrible stuff. I understand that it's the only option available for some systems, but any client who asks for RPA support when APIs exist for the same data ought to be fired, or at least given a very stern "No."
> I’ve been an arborist for 35 years and it is my opinion that it is healthier for trees to be planted outside the lawn area.

Kill your lawn. Lawns don't belong in Colorado. Get your city to adopt rainwater harvesting measures, use it to create microclimates with native flora. That'll make it easier for you to grow trees, and better use of rainwater will reduce/eliminate the city's need to upkeep with water.

Brad Lancaster has a website with this and other ecosystem-minded permaculture techniques. He's in AZ but the techniques are adaptable to CO. https://www.harvestingrainwater.com/water-harvesting/

Huh, interesting. I wanted to see how to enable this on iPhone, and the answer is that it’s built into iOS 18+ and will happen automatically after 3 days of no usage.
Lmao at the absolute ego behind that wording
Much easier to find one that won't notice the markup, though. You think they read the contracts any more carefully than most people?
> And the police your name and emergency contacts.

Hell no. The fuzz ain't getting my info without reasonable, articulable suspicion that I have committed, am committing, or am about to commit a crime, or if I'm pressing charges and need to ID for that process.
