This won't be new for many people, but I've experimented with avif for github demo videos to keep the size under 1MB. The amount of video that one can squeeze into this file size with little to no degradation is genuinely mind-boggling. I think I have a 30s loop of a website scroll in 750KB.

That is so silly, I love it.
Just to point out your site text appears too small on mobile (no mobile view) and it doesn't have a direct link to the repo. If either is by choice then that's fine of course.
Re:Ask HN: CAD for wood working with LLM support?

I've had poor luck with LLMs in OpenSCAD. They seem to struggle same as I do. The relatively long rendering times are also off putting. Unfortunately, in my laziness, I've locked myself into Fusion for now, but I do quite enjoy modeling by hand in it.

This isn't something even the average techie will risk trying.

True, but it's extremely effective at getting registrations, almost to the point that you're dooming yourself without it. Anyone and everyone uses it, big and small. Google can afford any random user to run a few queries before dangling the hook, but it's all the same.

That's pretty simple - the chosen display is best for core usage. Cleay visible in bright sun or dark, sharp angles, easy on the battery. For anything else, there's a HDMI out isn't there.

BW. I don't think colour would do much, as the screen is 250x122. Battery may depend on what you can find, but the one I have should last several weeks (still testing). I started on a tiny LiPo I ripped from my cat's floppy fish toy.
To give more info here, it uses Heltec Wireless Paper, which is a self-contained unit and just needs a battery added.

Funny, it's not two days that I've published what I called 'we have Polaroid at home' https://www.printables.com/model/1622259-14mm-label-tape-pic...
Note it's just a 3D printable stand for tiny printer labels (16mm wide). It was a literal 5 minute project but I liked the retro and restrictive aesthetic enough to share..
Such printer as shown is an absolute bargain at £15
