It was political, quite possibly a mistake.
But it was most likely not requested by the Norwegian government.
They also had connections to Epstein

I am not sure another committee would do much better though. How would they be chosen? At least these are people with a lot of experience in foreign affairs.
And at the end of the day - it is their price to govern. If they do a bad job, the world will move on.
Fine, i also prefer being able to edit my comments.
The Norwegian nobel prize committee. (Your post was heavily edited, if you think i missed some point.)
Yeah, I guess they act independently from international courts.
They have opinions and moral values. And a lot of times they coincide with western democracy ideals.
Or - like today - with rules based global world order.
The committee is independent from politics although some dictators may at times misunderstand that.
Also risk appetite.
Note specifically, my emphasis.
"alongside new backers Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective"
It matters who owns the company. Where your employees come from matters much less.
As long as there is no investors from Europe, these startups will just be a money funnel to America.
I don't know about Jev, but in my experience, 90% of the time, the confidence score such machine outputs (e.g. simplest case a kalman filter) is bogus because the model is wrong. Or not even wrong, but just not perfect.
Mathematicians build this, and they love the beauty of it so much that they loose touch of reality.
"Existing investors including Sequoia, Lightspeed, Greenfield, Kindred, Lingotto and Promus Ventures participated alongside new backers Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective."
What share of the investor money is from USA?
> There's plenty more to do now that making CRUD apps
Throwback to HN anno 2021 everyone was complaining about their bread and butter was creating CRUD apps.
In this case I applaud the utility of something built in 3 days.
Not the engineering effort behind it.
It still looks great. And very good for understanding whatever it is my dentist is doing with my teeth.
It is not really about reserving cores.
Just that - even if you distribute work to a number of cores (that itself limited), you still need to sync the execution. So unless you have some bigger chunks of computation, the performance increase will be very small.
And yes, there are bigger chunks of work when rendering a web page, but that is typically already outside the css engine and can be distributed without having to rewrite the core engine.
But my comments are a bit generic here, so I am open to comments regarding this particular project.
Hot take... There is something about programming projects spending 10x (or 1000x) the effort to parallelize execution when everything is still restricted by von Neumann architecture.
I don't really see why they would do that?
Norse Scandinavia must include Iceland. In particular when referencing Prose Edda.
I am sure your fantasy could stretch further than that, if you allowed it to.
Or - don't choose 850 page books for a book club?
You may love it, but your friend may hate it.
Keep it for yourself.
I think you need to look beyond the job factor to see the real dangers of AI development.
Still counter productive.
I think of this as a baker at the nascence of bread-baking factories.
Will you operate the bread baking machine, own a bread factory ($++) or make eco-handmade artisan bread ($--).
Or do something completely different? Trade railway shares?
Why would they rate-limit fixing their own bugs? Seems counter-productive.
(slackware) Just need to find where you stored all 20 floppy disks...
You also IPO if your investors want to cash out.
You don't expect to find the global maximum. It will just always be there as an elusive target.
I doubt the human brain is at global maximum.
I don't know, I always feel these companies (including governments) are selling this kind of contracts too cheap.
They are not used to the aggressiveness of FAANG negotiators, they treat them as friends.
Ouch, big brother.
I have an LG TV screen. How do I know if I am infected? It is a few years old...
