Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:50PM (#50340675)
The battery drain issue looks like more of an issue with suboptimal power management in Graphene OS than Play Services. Or the sandbox interacts with them in a weird way, resulting in some kind of loop or bug that keeps the CPU alive.
Not only you'll be paying for low quality Disney slop, but you'll also be paying to be advertised to. I now think even less of people that keep paying for subscriptions like Disney+.
Probably because the leaker is actually the state, and in case the fact is discovered, they want to be protected against privacy violation lawsuits.
Re:Citroen revives the 2CV for an electric age on Monday October 12, 2026 @05:12PM (#50063135)
Ami-style cars are toys for "rich" people. No lower-class or lower middle class person who can only buy one car is going to get it, since its compromises are too great; tiny range, lack of AC, no suburban or highway capability, can't fit a stroller or child seat. That person will inevitably get either something like a C3/C3 Aircross/Clio/Sandero or a Chinese EV like the 20k euro Geely E2 or Aion UT or 16K Leapmotor T03/B10 or 18K Dolphin Surf.

An upper-middle class or "rich" person will get one, as a third car for errands in the historic center (doesn't wanna mingle with the poors on public transit), as a first car for his 16 year old brat (a travesty that law allows it) or a runabout for his wife that has old her car license due to drunk driving.

Rocket man bad.
Re:HMD Touch 4G on Sunday July 19, 2026 @01:44PM (#48970138)
This is nothing new. It's a dumb-phone with a touchscreen. There were quite a few examples back in the day in the late 00s.

Dementia largely affects people on a pension, and not working adults contributing to the pyramid scheme.

It seems like the "we support the current thing" crowd disagrees with you.
Re:Nobody understands the point of hybrid cars [video] on Saturday May 23, 2026 @08:04AM (#48246968)
You'd only invalidate the warranty of the speaker itself. Good riddance.
Re:Nobody understands the point of hybrid cars [video] on Thursday May 21, 2026 @12:42AM (#48217958)
A few drops of superglue into the speaker should work wonders. Probably very easy to DIY on your driveway in a few minutes.
Re:Apple is increasing my cortisol levels on Sunday May 10, 2026 @08:55AM (#48083602)
You won't appear as hip and fashionable amongst your CA/SV peers lugging a "generic" laptop around.

Looks like an "organization" tailor made to be awarded EU funds for their "mission".
Israel doesn't have to do anything. Muslim fundamentalism is inherently anti-zionist.
>then I needed to find a brake controller that can work with the higher voltage (14.4v vs the normal 12v)

Put a voltmeter on the battery terminals of a regular car at 2000rpm and note the voltage. You'd be surpised (the alternator can produce as high as 15V on some cars).

Breaking up Apple would be glorious. Great hardware without an Orwellian OS on top.
All 800V eGMP Hyundai/Kia cars suffer from ICCU issues.
Until the ICCU fails, at which point you're toast.
The vacuum reservoir of the brake booster in cars with vacuum servo brakes (whether vacuum is generated by the engine or an electric pump is irrelevant) stores enough energy for 3-4 full applications of the brakes.
Please post some judicial decisions regarding your claim.
Common in ICE cars oo, mostly turbo ones. The difference between the 100HP model and the 120HP model is only an ECU map.

Re:Bento: A Steam Deck in a Keyboard on Thursday June 19, 2025 @02:24PM (#44321190)
All this effort wasted on using a really bad keyboard as a base.
I'd like to use it because I support the creator's stated mission, but for me, performance seems very slow and unreliability is lacking

Hooks, holes in the backing plate, stamped/cast dimples, welded wire-mesh for the backing material to adhere to.
Pads were the friction material is solely using glue to adhere to the backing plate are generally either very cheap aftermarket replacements or the OEM cheapening out.
This is a 2019 article with figures from that time. So it's wildly out of date.
No, they're cheap Chinese honeycomb paper and low density particle board.
On the other hand, normies do ruin everything.

If there was a concept of corporate death penalty, Apple would be one of my top picks for its application.
