Re:Creating the Go Programming Language [audio] on Monday September 30, 2019 @10:42AM (#21115855)
Go is a new Visual Basic. Probably good for business owners, because of the lowbrow nature of Go language, developers are easily interchangeable, like a commodity.

How does it compare to Elixir/Phoenix?
You are wrong. Groovy had lambdas even before Java 8. Netflix used Groovy only because of that exact feature.
A lot of countries with dictatorship regimes are natural gas exporters. Avoiding natural gas usage makes the world a better place. So that's a right decision.

I guess 10 years is not enough to develop concurrent in-memory data structures storage.

Yeah, let's code like it's 1970's and multi-core CPUs are Sci-Fi ;)

Re:Pi-Hole – A black hole for Internet advertisements on Wednesday February 27, 2019 @02:18AM (#19261534)
Here is a Unicorn idea for a successful startup!

Develop a technology that protects ad-supported web sites from ad-blocking scammers ;)

Re:Pi-Hole – A black hole for Internet advertisements on Wednesday February 27, 2019 @02:12AM (#19261504)
Are there any technologies that can reinforce ads on a site?

I know a site owner can track visitors with ad-blockers and show them warnings, but that is not it.

Re:Pi-Hole – A black hole for Internet advertisements on Wednesday February 27, 2019 @02:10AM (#19261490)
What if it is a scam to get the free content of the site without watching its ads?

Looks like they try to invent exceptions.

Because Go is owned and controlled by Google, the company famous for personal data collection and misuse.
Re:An update about Redis developments in 2019 on Monday February 25, 2019 @03:44AM (#19244072)
TL;DR

* Clients will stay simple, RESP3 is backward compatible with RESP2

* ACLs are mostly an anti-fool protection.

* True multi-threading is impossibly hard to implement, but there will be some ad-hoc workarounds.

* Better persistence will be getting better.

* Existing data structures solve everything, so their number won't be extended.

* Read @antirez twitter to stay tuned.

Go developers have a sectarian mind set. They obey the cult of The Three Creators, and some other minor advocates/evangelists like this australian dude.
Go fanboys won't get it. They are too busy proving their language doesn't need Generics.
No wonder most Go developers come from Python, not C++. Go is a faster Python with concurrency. Go is not suitable for serious projects, but is ok for mediocre devops stuff.
One more advice - implement Generics in your programming language, it's 2019 already, not 1970s!

Re:I love React Hooks on Wednesday February 20, 2019 @02:47AM (#19206343)
TL;DR

People who wish that progress would stop on jQuery & Rails - won't like React Hooks either.
