Supply rates can adjust dynamically but not delivery, though delivery rates have been creeping upwards as well.
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @11:26PM (#50175706)
In my state in the US, they started differentiating between a "supply" rate, as in who generated your electricity, versus a "delivery" rate, or who delivered the electricity. That way they can market the supply rates to you and charge you on delivery additionally.
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @02:06PM (#50170261)
And that half a RMB doesn't include extra fees or delivery rates vs supply rates, correct? It's the all in rate?

This is particularly nice when you're warming the car up in the garage during cold snaps. Hard to do this with ICE vehicles without risking carbon monoxide buildup.

Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @08:03AM (#49907683)
Ah, so that's where the profit comes from. Very payment-processor like move, makes sense that Stripe picked them up.

Interestingly, OpenRouter will serve inference at cost for a lot of models.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @04:11PM (#49899647)
For readers wondering, OpenRouter isn’t capable of caching as effectively as DeepSeek is because they will, for instance, switch inference providers in the middle of a session.
Re:Claude Opus 5.5 on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @10:21PM (#49810869)
Deepseek is cheap and fast, but it couldn't follow the basic directions I gave every other model (GLM, Qwen, GPT, Claude) to use red/green TDD. Put me off of using DS.
Re:GPT-6 Sol and Luna on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @03:43PM (#49807042)
The UI design gap is something I’ve noticed as well, in things as simple as ASCII diagrams. Claude has a more human touch. All the diagrams GPT 5.6 generated for me were dressed up lists with too many pipe symbols.

To add to your point:

> "Quite frankly, the biggest issue we are now having is not a compute glut, but it's power and it's sort of the ability to get the builds done fast enough close to power," he told the show's hosts. "So if you can't do that, you may actually have a bunch of chips sitting in inventory that I can't plug in. In fact, that is my problem today. It's not a supply issue of chips. It's actually the fact that I don't have warm shells to plug into."

Everyone's still bottlenecked on foundries, not designs.

Knowledge is for the machines, you see; we are simply here to tend to their electrons. At least for now.
But is the grammar load bearing?

China actually penalizes, imprisons, and even executes its billionaires, so that’s different.
Re:Universal Housing on Sunday August 23, 2026 @12:41PM (#49410234)
On first blush, everyone gets housing and land ultimately belongs to the country sounds a lot like China.

I hated this so much. Both acli, which my agents have to rediscover how to use from --help every time, and the MCP, which I have to reauthenticate against frequently. I have replaced both with a "skill" that just describes where to find an Atlassian API key and which version of the API to use. Works perfectly every time.

The currency code is CNY or Chinese Yuan. Yuan itself is like “dollar,” with many different countries calling their currency “dollars.” Renminbi refers to the Chinese currency as a whole rather than any particular unit.
Data centers would be less contentious in the U.S. if energy was plentiful and clean. As it is, it externalizes costs onto the public and strains profit-optimized electrical grids while contributing to local pollution and global warming.
Another reason this may be true, selling hardware may be the only durable moat after a while
It’s also a flywheel for China’s homegrown chips industry.
