I'm sure a big air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 would be enough to stop throttling.

Maybe Intel will include a beefier stock cooler in the box?

Hi,

Awesome project!

You might want to consider cropping all the human images to be square as well. It's a dead giveaway when all the AI images are square and the human ones have varying aspect ratios.

Re:This Image Does Not Exist on Sunday May 22, 2022 @10:24AM (#31468494)
This is awesome, but they should really crop every image to a square.

All the AI generated images are square which kind of ruined it for me.

If I may ask, what is the reason you place these restrictions on yourself?

Do you have a moral objection to centralised currency?

Re:The end of the nice GTK button on Friday March 25, 2022 @07:30AM (#30800809)
Anyone else happy with Gnome? It's good to have an opinionated DE that just gets out of the way.

It launches apps, provides me with workspaces, and abstracts all the low level details away so I can focus on actually using my computer.

If people want to customise every minute detail of the themes they shouldn't be using Gnome/GTK. The devs don't have to cater for everyone's needs, they are allowed to focus on a target audience.

I love that the fines are scaled to income, makes so much more sense than a flat rate.

You can still work around the Quora BS by appending `?share=1` to the URL
Re:Mojang to Require a Microsoft Account to Play Minecraft on Tuesday March 01, 2022 @11:56AM (#30516575)
It would take an insane amount of work.

Minetest is not remotely close to feature parity with Minecraft.

The automatic certificate renewal is a killer feature. Goodbye dodgy cronjobs!

Thanks so much for replying! Just looked at some example configs and it looks way slicker than nginx.
Re:Avoiding the top Nginx configuration mistakes on Wednesday February 23, 2022 @02:19AM (#30438557)
What are some alternatives to NGINX? Is there a maintained fork with a better config?

I know of Apache, but that seems to be falling out of favour lately.

Re:Cyberpunk: Patch 1.5 on Tuesday February 22, 2022 @04:39AM (#30425835)
I'm glad CDPR is still working on this despite the dismal launch.

It looks a lot closer to what they promised on release now.

Thanks
Awesome tool but what is the legality of this? Where is it sourcing the episodes from?
Is caffeine also at the top of the funnel? How about melatonin?

The fact that most heroin users have used caffeine previously does not mean that caffeine is a gateway drug to heroin, or at all correlated with hard drug use. The same applies to cannabis.

You have reinvented native apps

The rotoscoping in the film makes the film feel so surreal, it's like nothing I've ever seen before. Absolutely worth watching if you get the chance.
Quality control is definitely lacking, but it is free so I have no complaints.
Re:I'm “still afraid to use spaces in file names” years old on Thursday November 11, 2021 @09:34AM (#29188205)
Sure, but MS values backwards compatibility a lot.

They aren't going to break existing API or bloat the kernel with a bunch of functions that do the same thing.

Re:Against Discord Channels on Saturday November 06, 2021 @10:03AM (#29130274)
The post says: "discord just doesn’t scale well, because it lacks good threading"

However, they recently added threads[1] where users can start small temporary channels for discussions.

It's insane to me that we have already got to a point where we are struggling to differentiate CG text from real articles.
Re:Fork Freshness: Project lifespans in the Ruby ecosystem on Sunday October 24, 2021 @10:23PM (#28983905)
This problem could be solved if Github simply sorted the list of forks by stars instead of alphabetically.

Without context I would've assumed that was a phishing site.
It definitely checks the process list. On Linux it lets me add "systemd" as a game to display on my status
Forgive my ignorance, but how could Discord accommodate deaf users in voice chats?
Propaganda? I was sharing my opinion on a post that explicitly asked for it, you're welcome to disagree with it
Web3 isn't solving problems that the average user cares about. The vast majority of people just care that they can read articles, watch videos, do shopping, etc...

Web3 makes these tasks more complex and slower in order to create a decentralised, privacy-preserving, cryptocurrency supporting network. No average user cares about privacy on the web or paying with anything other than fiat.

And if the user base isn't there, what company will build software to interact with Web3? Every usable browser today is made by a for-profit company.

I can see it being used for niche, nerdy communities, but that's about it. I don't think it will ever be mainstream.
