they are very VERY different substances, the subjective experience of 4-AcO is actually very similar to Psilocybin.

Re:Could AIs Become Conscious? on Thursday August 20, 2026 @02:53PM (#49378604)
The antenna theory is intriguing but always bugged me. Where do we get that idea that consciousness lives outside the body/brain? Where did it come from?
Re:Norway greenlights first full-scale ship tunnel on Friday June 19, 2026 @10:12AM (#48598845)
not 40 years? seriously ??? (cries in Californian)
Europe decided to regulate the hell out of foreign AI instead of investing in their own systems. It's sad to see the European continent lost the race to create a decent startup ecosystem (no decent search engines, social networks, cloud, mobile OS) and now it seems to be hellbent in losing this battle.
it works incredibly well at Burning Man, so you are completely right!
archive.org has all episodes
Re:Why I love NixOS on Monday March 23, 2026 @01:32PM (#47492560)
LLMs are game changers for guix, gemini was able to create manifests for absolutely anything I asked for with very few iterations.
Re:Mesh over Bluetooth LE, TCP, or Reticulum on Tuesday March 10, 2026 @09:38PM (#47330897)
has anyone used reticulum and how does it compare to meshtastic (or even meshcore?)
I ended up using guix shells (container mode) for my agents and sharing just the directories they need
Comma can be installed on a tesla, I've seen a couple of them already driving around the Bay Area
It helps that Europeans can go to a hospital or take an ambulance without having to open a GoFundMe account.

Re:US AI Action Plan on Thursday July 24, 2025 @02:04AM (#44667456)
"Sorry, let's talk about something else"
USPS started sending me pictures of the place where I used to live 5 years ago all the sudden, they are not addressed to me and there is no way I can stop these mails (I could block them on gmail but that will affect my own digest).
It is working, we need to keep filming.
I am making way more than 10x of what I was making in Europe, for exactly the same role. Cost of living is definitely not 10x.
I am originally from Europe and I must ask : how many startups of global reach has Europe produced in the last 30 years compared to the US as a whole (or even just the SF Bay Area). What is Europe doing in AI compared to the US or China?
Re:Tell HN: uBlock Origin on Chrome is finally gone on Friday July 11, 2025 @11:25PM (#44539040)

Literally me right now, got my first SDR less than a month ago because I wanted to have an FM radio for emergencies and I am designing antennas and studying for my amateur radio license.
Re:Emacs dired-mode as a file manager on Friday May 23, 2025 @06:08PM (#44077069)
The most amazing part of guix (and nixOS) is that you can just copy that piece of code into your home-config.scm and have it running in a few seconds. It's pretty mind blowing.
Re:Itter.sh – Micro-Blogging via Terminal on Friday May 09, 2025 @08:26PM (#43942218)
I was about to say 'please do not hijack the thread' but read your comment and ssh'ed into it. This is amazing.
Re:Taking Notes with Joplin on Monday April 21, 2025 @10:42AM (#43752565)
the gateway drug to Emacs, I started with org-mode and 10+ years later, it took over my entire life.
SOMAFM's SF police radio with ambient music is surprisingly good for concentration, I have this on an alias in my box : mpv https://somafm.com/sf1033.pls
Re:Utah becomes first US state to ban fluoride in its water on Saturday March 29, 2025 @10:52PM (#43520833)
The US rarely looks into how other countries solve problems. (i.e. Universal Healthcare, High Speed Trains and so), this is the sad part of "American Exceptionalism"
Re:Schemesh: Fusion between Unix shell and Lisp REPL on Saturday February 15, 2025 @11:58PM (#43065463)
