Re:Learn Vim for the Last Time: A Tutorial and Primer (2021) on Sunday October 23, 2022 @09:57AM (#33307051)
I really like this "I've spent 30 hours and I finally have (n)vi(m) (whatever) configured way I like.", "After 80 hours I finally learned how to be productive with vi".

With VSCode and rust-analyzer I can be super productive and I don't need to spend month on learning and configuring text editor. For f..k sake is this some kind of d..k measuring contextes with vi/emacs? ;)

Re:How Rust 1.64 became faster on Windows on Sunday October 23, 2022 @09:50AM (#33307005)
It's great to see every speed up :)

"Resignation Letter Builder Unlimited"

That looks helpful ;)

A nice gesture anyway.

Rust is the language that makes me look forward to the next day at work.

"most if not all bugs"

Unfortunatelly logic errors are not caught - this would require some sophisticated AI in compiler. But other problems should be caught.

Of course Rust will not prevent you from placing backdoors and other more sophisticated vulnerabilities in code. Compiler is great, but you still have to think.

Re:Why the return to the office isn’t working on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @07:10PM (#31747129)
I'm working remotely for 13 years now. It's really hard to imagine it to myself that I would get back to office.
Re:Why Rust is a great choice for startups on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @11:39AM (#31741092)
Time to market is important if you have an idea that replicates existing solutions. Or is easy to replicate by others.
Re:Why Rust is a great choice for startups on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @11:37AM (#31741045)
It's true that Rust is not for everyone. But if you are average+ programmer you should be able to learn it.
Re:Why Rust is a great choice for startups on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @07:20AM (#31737408)
It's fact that it's easiest to cause a CVE bug in a language that you manually manage memory. So it's true that most likely JavaScript programmers may not cause them too often ;)

Do you pine for the nice days of C/C++, when men were men and spend hours on debugging segmentation faults?
Re:Why Rust is a great choice for startups on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @06:30AM (#31736927)
If you build a startup around bad ideas realized in crappy languages, than it's a great recipe for a disaster.

If you have a good idea and you hire seasoned developers who can realize this idea you are at least on the good path.

Re:10x (engineer, context) pairs on Saturday June 11, 2022 @03:57PM (#31707724)
I do not doubt that there are 10/ programmers. Programmers that are just lazy slackers.
