Re:Samsung's folding phone breaks for reviewers on Thursday April 18, 2019 @12:14PM (#19692210)
The screen protector is an integral part of the screen. It's not that if fails later on without it, trying to remove it destroys the screen. It's like pulling the contacts out of a port and complaining that the phone won't charge.
Re:IBM halting sales of Watson AI tool for drug discovery on Thursday April 18, 2019 @12:04PM (#19692117)
Does it make a difference if they preform better than human docs? The same thing happens now with human docs.
Re:Banned Drugs in the Meat Supply? on Tuesday April 09, 2019 @09:45AM (#19614519)
Sure, bio-accumulation is a risk, but the vast majority of meat eaten by humans is low on the food chain. Fish is a whole different story.

Going on over an hour now. Someone goofed big time.

Is there an explore option like on github?
Re:Jupiter is deep on Friday March 09, 2018 @05:58PM (#16555784)
Why the title change?
Re:The Surprising Importance of Stratospheric Life (2016) on Sunday March 04, 2018 @10:16PM (#16518476)
So I know the organisms likely for after a week in the stratosphere, but the resiliency of the cells mentioned make it seem impossible that we didn't take life to mars.
Re:The Exeter Book was used as a cutting board on Wednesday February 28, 2018 @03:42PM (#16486677)
I couldn't make out anything on the pages. How different was the alphabet?
Aren't dice and coins banned because they can be sharpened into a shiv? That would explain why cards are allowed.
Thanks for the information! After reading the abstracts, I still have two question.

1. It sounds like the mechanism for killing cells is very general. Why do histatins not attack somatic cells?

2. Do mouth wounds simply heal faster because the mouth is cleaner?

That had disappointingly little content. Mouth wounds heal faster because of background saliva, but why?
Ketosis can apparently lead to more weight loss because ketones are less efficient vehicles of energy in general. Additionally, unused ketones can be eliminated through sweat, urine, and breath.
Re:The duties of John von Neumann's assistant (1993) on Monday February 19, 2018 @03:55PM (#16415673)
What's the joke?
Re:Neurological evidence for chaos in the nervous system (2014) on Tuesday February 13, 2018 @06:18PM (#16371829)
Maybe. I tend to agree with you. With that being said, the code/automata ideaa of consciousness always remind me of the deists, etc. I'm always a little weary of to literally interpreting the mind this way.
Great! Thanks!
I just finished Marcus Aurelius. What would be a good next text?
Re:Double Pendulum Visualization on Tuesday February 06, 2018 @05:34PM (#16320578)
I really like the animation, but I'm confused by it. I thought that the whole thing with chaotic systems is that extremely slight differences in starting positions lead to very different outcomes. The continuity of the gif is surprising.
Re:The Octopus: Stable Genius on Tuesday February 06, 2018 @12:53PM (#16317965)
I recently took a class which extensively covered the early squid giant axon research. While they are very far away from us in the evolutionary tree, the overall mechanisms are very similar. Re:Show HN: Math Art Snapchat AR Lens on Sunday February 04, 2018 @05:23PM (#16305298)
So how does the whole lens studio thing work? I just read on the sc site that you have to scan a code, but I just clicked the link and it loaded it right in app.
Re:Detecting Consciousness (2017) [pdf] on Sunday February 04, 2018 @02:22PM (#16304327)
What techniques does this involve?
Re:The Comprehensive Illusion of Football (2015) on Sunday February 04, 2018 @02:09PM (#16304246)
I think this article is a bit pretentious. The authors far flung similies create an air of moral smugness. Not a fan.
