Re:Ask HN: What's the coolest website you know? on Friday June 17, 2022 @12:23PM (#31780515)
Wow! Does anyone know what is built on and how it is this fast?
Re:The Floppotron 3.0 on Friday June 17, 2022 @11:54AM (#31780057)
There should be a special version of a Turing award for fun computing projects like this!
Re:Show HN: I built a simulator for personal finance on Friday April 22, 2022 @09:09AM (#31121146)
Cool, can you share how long it took you to build this?

Wait to see the cost of a college education...;(

People like this are so toxic that companies must eject them. They have no real added value, they merely harass those that should be helped to grow and learn as they evolve in their positions. Software engineering teams need collaborating peers and mentors not bullies.
Re:Learn Functional Programming Visually on Saturday February 27, 2021 @11:15AM (#26285751)
What makes you think that a person with a degree in theoretical physics who is making their livelihood writing code is qualified to teach functional programming and more so address the (well justified) peculiarities of FP you are raising here?
Re:I am releasing all my recent eBooks for FREE on Friday February 19, 2021 @09:59AM (#26193849)
Mark, thank you for your generosity with your books.

I wish you could also share with us your process of writing books. You are a prolific writer, how do you do it?

Re:Computer Science Curriculum in 1000 YouTube Videos on Friday January 15, 2021 @09:47PM (#25799524)
This website is a joke, made by a recent graduate (23 year old guy): https://laconicml.com/author/laconicml/

Really dude, you got an undergrad in CS and you will teach us all these topics? I am exhausted by the available curricula that would make me a computer scientist, data scientist, machine learning guru, Python ninja and whatever else. All that by watching videos, attending online programs, mostly made by people who have zero content credibility yet they are able to put together a bootstrap website and search YouTube for videos.

Please make it stop.

Re:A Modern JavaScript Tutorial on Friday December 11, 2020 @09:52AM (#25386409)
Do you have a good JS tutorial for beginners that meets the definitions you are proposing to compare and contrast?
Re:Distributed Systems Reading List on Friday December 11, 2020 @09:36AM (#25386247)
Explain concurrency like I am five and give a concurrency example problem and solution.
To be frank, I could live without yet-another-half-cooked, tutorial on Python/ML/DL/Data Science anywhere, not just on Medium...
Hardware changes the slowest so advances that affect how chips, processors and boards tend to be more predictable and long-winded. However, the application of these changes to different domains (e.g. IoT) changes rapidly so the underlying hardware platform may be "stable" but new requirements that need to be programmed (e.g. power efficiency, security, etc) will continue to evolve -- therefore requiring continuous learning.
Re:Ask HN: Why did you leave the tech industry? on Friday April 24, 2020 @10:19AM (#22968191)
How did you make the switch to Systems Programming? How did you train yourself and what technology stack I (perhaps mistakenly) would think between the front-end, back-end and devops jobs, Systems programmers are a dying breed.
Re:Ask HN: Have you been laid off? on Friday March 20, 2020 @06:52PM (#22642546)
I hate to say this but working for startups really warps everyone's sense of level and career progression. Startup management cares to retain talent and they often give out titles (Senior, Director, VP) like confetti. If you really want to know where you are, the old-school behemoths (e.g. IBM, Lockheed etc) tend to have better (and more rigid) levels.
