It's definitely all tail wind
True but also there has never been a better time for total rewrites of legacy code. One could even hope it's the time COBOL finally goes out of fashion in some industries.
The point of foldables is that they fit a big screen in your pocket. What's the point of a foldable display? Fit a 10 inch in your tiny purse? Very hard sale for double the price.
We will eventually see "foldable MacBook" because I genuinely want a 20" screen in my backpack or even just a smaller 16" MacBook. I guess not coming before 2035
I'm ok with the bump, but make it not wiggle on a damn table. Google figured this out. The first MacBook Airs figured this out (wedge).
They came up with the plateau, just make the whole plateau flat already.
"We just changed a couple things, no biggie, don't buy it" is the reality, but that doesn't sell. Marketers optimize for sales saying what they can get away with.
Until Google and Apple agree to create a new "web app" standard, it's not gonna happen HTML moves painfully slow. Then solutions come out (input datetime) and people don't use them.
I'm ok with that. Better than those 2007 iPhone bare pages where you can't do or read anything.
What I don't like is that every site now looks the same.
Article mentions app down, which presumably it's not the same part used by MasterCard
That's why you're about to get fired. That's the whole issue.
It's already illegal in EU and UK
Dissected cats indeed make for terrible jeans. Very kitsch.
If it didn't, why do you think every captcha solution uses it? It doesn't have to be 100% effective to be useful.
This. Google like ChatGPT have started censoring content like people did not populate this earth by fornication. Yandex cares much less about this sort of censorship, at least from what I can tell. Even Bing fell from its throne. IYKYK.
This is super cool. Particularly for the fact that it just showed my country's operators rather than the usual America First.
Is Node a fork of Chrome? They didn't replace V8 either.
To me Deno died the day it decided to not support npm packages and died again when it started supporting it.
Ironically the reason why I hated it when it was introduced was the reason why they added support for npm (i.e. absolute URLs don't support semver and therefore you will load multiple versions)
Deno is decidedly not a fork for Node.
The cat is out of the bag. TLDs are now the domains of the rich. Why not have .taylorswift? It's just 250k
https://gtlds.fyi/names/taylorswiftAs for the rest, meh, these could be "I have an idea for a domain" but the domain costs 250k
Easy. GitHub is hosted on Sourceforge.
You made me check. iOS only supports JXL in ProRAW mode, which (I hope) most people don't use.
I have a feeling that progressive loaders got downgraded along the way for whatever reason. I remember seeing progressive JPEGs and PNGs also load... progressively. JPEG even often had a grayscale-like first layer.
Codecs have been a thing on both major OSes, Windows Media Player could open DivX and QuickTime could open MKV. I think they were only limited to videos however.
Reading the linked articles suggests that this is not possible, but Apple did acknowledge that the full-disk access grants you access to other apps (until the most recent update)
Typical "leopards ate my face" moment. You give AI (from Meta, nonetheless) full-disk access and then complain that—wow—it really meant FULL.
In a perfect world where you got nothing to hide, where companies don't sell your data and there are no hackers, even I would love to just hand all my data to Muse and have it be my trusted assistant. People who think we live in such a world are already doing that, evidently.
The call actually does appear in the Recents list in red, with the time of call, it just doesn't say "missed" explicitly. This matches how the Phone app has looked for the past 20 years.
The "missed calls" list I mentioned would be more of a filter, which is indeed annoying but not fundamental.
I think you're paid to deliver. Lots of developers for decades have delivered crap that looks good on the surface and is otherwise unmaintainable. Now we're reaching the point where "everyone can code" and review queues are getting too long, with the result of many PRs being yoloed.
This of course varies by company but this is clearly where it's headed: bot pushes, bot reviews, you look at the PR title and click merge.
It's quite sad to see incompetence at these levels. This is a static page that loads JS. They even inject styles via JS...
I don't see what's confusing about the app, both on macOS an iOS. You get a preview of your face, the last contacts you called and a green "New call" button.
To me this is simple to the point of being excessively simple, especially with the "missed calls" being in a 16x16 click target dropdown.
It looks like they optimized for "calls from grandma" mode.
Outside France people don't live in big clusters. Take a look at the night satellite view. All those small/continuous towns do not have (functional) public transport. In my 12k-people town we don't have buses other than school buses and long-distance ones. And unfortunately people don't really walk other than for leisure.
As far as I know the closest city with public transport counts 100k residents, but there are 60 smaller towns in my province alone.
Sorry where's the rubble? The OS is pretty thin feature-wise. It's not like certain other OS that literally ship with ads and third-party games.
