So it's not faster than C++, it's faster than whatever you deem "reasonable C++". I think you should clearly state that.
Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:17AM (#50242383)
I think whether it requires a lot of work is not the most important factor. The important factor is how easy it is to replace it. If it was made with AI I expect it to be easily copiable with AI. Therefore it doesn't make much sense to spend a lot, if any, money on it.
How can you claim Goose is faster than C++, i.e. faster than the language whose subset (i.e. C) it compiles to?
It's not easy to calculate how much you are worth because it depends on so many factors. And it wouldn't be nice to charge you 10x more than what they charge someone else.

> If you submit a LLM written article to a website/paper in 1990, no one would say that it is a technically poor piece of writing.

If it was one or two paragraphs, maybe. But a full article is very tiring to read and almost always goes nowhere or goes round-and-round.

Can llms even play chess? Last time I tried they were making nonsensical illegal moves (for example, moving non-existent pieces).
Re:Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men on Thursday October 15, 2026 @02:13AM (#50099874)
That's great advice but still you can be replaced by younger people that also left software for a hands-on job.

Re:Mozilla Introduces Firefox Enterprise on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @03:35PM (#50077382)
"Half the sites" is a huge overstatement. I very rarely find sites that do not work on Firefox.
They will just switch to a betting exchange model where the house gets a percentage of the turnover and the rest is distributed to the players. Under this model there is no incentive to ban winners.
App submissions are up but what about revenue?
Re:How much of F-Droid is LLM generated? on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @07:52AM (#49711135)
If there are very few humans that can do this is because the market for such a task is very small and thus there is little incentive to learn how to do it or produce tools that can do it.

You better don't look into how banks created your savings by creating loans that were used to invest into companies and thus pay salaries.
Re:Google Search Is Dying. What Comes Next Is Worse on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @08:30AM (#49271371)
Deciding not to have a child also impacts your future. You might change your mind in the future and be unable to have a child or have other health problems that make raising a child difficult. You might reach old(er) age and be alone. Regrets are a thing.

The problem is that AI writing uses a pretty distinctive style and when you read a whole newspaper that was written or edited by AI it is very monotonous. Also, I can't really trust it because I know that the author probably phoned in his fact-checking.
Re:Google Search Is Dying. What Comes Next Is Worse on Tuesday August 11, 2026 @09:28AM (#49257975)
There's nothing you can really walk back from. Time flows one-way.

AI has killed reading-anything-written-after-AI for me. Due to this effect it is probably the worst invention in human history or pre-history.
What's wrong with making billions? Will this hurt the game somehow?
> I think most people think of it as a free vacation.

It's not free if the company is paying for it.

Re:Why I Stopped Arguing with People on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @09:47AM (#48746734)
The whole article is AI slop.
Re:Why current LLM costs are not sustainable on Friday June 26, 2026 @05:32AM (#48684409)
They are subsidized by the huge losses incurred by the AI companies.
For those that don't know, DDG already has an AI mode: duck.ai
Re:AI is wiping out entry-level jobs on Friday May 15, 2026 @09:59AM (#48148692)
The whole article feels like AI slop.
Where does this certainty that LLMs will get more intelligent stem from?
Re:A.I. is creating engineers who can't think without it on Monday April 27, 2026 @09:22AM (#47921249)
Even if AI does automate some jobs (or even most of them) then people doing them will just do something else. It's not like the world has a limited demand of computer code.
Re:A.I. is creating engineers who can't think without it on Monday April 27, 2026 @09:13AM (#47921150)
If the complexity of your mathematical problems was down to arithmetic then your problems were not at all complex.
This is like asking "why having a car does not make you run faster".
Covid, smartphones/screens, social media, AI have an enormous impact on the students. A slight school defunding (if it really exists, which I doubt) cannot compare.
I hate bombing as much as the next guy but areas close to military structures, especially to ones that have already been bombed during the last 24 hours, should have been evacuated.
