The actual left is generally against that sort of thing, and even significant factions on the right don't want the kind of government control, what you should be concerned about are liberal centrist people.

About as biased as a source you can find, considering this is from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute [1], a right-wing pressure group designed to spread propaganda in college campuses.

Sorry but Twitter is not legally obligated to be your platform for transphobic hate speech.
Re:Section 230 Explained on Friday October 16, 2020 @06:05PM (#24805495)
Because there are a lot of conservative Trump-supporting HN posters in these comments downvoting everybody who doesn't want the Internet destroyed.

It's actually the 8th largest, not 4th largest.
Re:Facebook, Twitter block the NY Post from posting on Wednesday October 14, 2020 @06:11PM (#24782278)
Really confused why right-wing disinformation is trending on Hacker News

You're so close to getting the point
It looks like it's being setup to fail by the administration

Public transit is a lot better in Europe, and besides, this is a long term plan.
Re:Stop the Coronavirus Corporate Coup on Saturday March 21, 2020 @06:31PM (#22650789)
Typical American definition maybe, but the word liberal is synonymous for big business in the rest of the world. Neoliberals are not left-wing, and the Democratic party is not left wing.
It's possible that pesticides and varrola mites are both causing it.
Re:Negative Interest Rates Are Going to Ruin Everything on Sunday January 12, 2020 @12:52AM (#22024722)
> Well of course we shouldn’t have funded state entitlement programs with trillions in low-interest debt and ensured our governments and, by extension, our societies were addicted to low interest rate revolving credit facilities writ large.

Arguably a more important problem as it impacts the vast majority of the population.
Re:Gitlab: don't discuss politics at work on Wednesday October 16, 2019 @09:31PM (#21278128)
Don't act like this isn't defined. You empower marginalized groups by ensuring that they can't be fired just for being in that group, for starters.

Your rights aren't minimized by granting rights to minorities. I can't believe I have to explain this to you. This isn't a zero sum game.

Re:Gitlab: don't discuss politics at work on Wednesday October 16, 2019 @09:28PM (#21278109)
No, you're just privileged enough to not have to worry about a divisive political issue because it doesn't directly impact you. There's nothing wrong with that, if you're aware of it.
Re:Gitlab: don't discuss politics at work on Wednesday October 16, 2019 @09:27PM (#21278100)
Serious question: why do you think work shouldn't be about discussing the issues that matter? Why dance around the issues?
Specifically, Florida Republicans.
