the simplest advice would be less sugar, more fiber (and probably some omega-3 PUFAs). i'll add sources when i get home.
yeah, i'm having trouble sourcing my statement, although i definitely read about it in some publication that i can't seem to find now. i was also sure it was part of the official DCM or ICD criteria. hmpf.
just wanted to say that i don't understand why you are getting downvoted for this. i found your original comment, and especially the blog excerpt quite reasonable.
well, technically the only thing stopping the medical world from calling a very religious person delusional, is the fact that religious people are specifically exempt from receiving that diagnosis, for no medical reason whatsoever.
my first thought was about the same; "shouldn't have stopped there".

and really, their experience fundamentally sounds like a good thing. a new way of looking at, or experiencing the world was opened to them. yeah, it can be frightening, and that's why you need to put more work in, to accommodate it in your life.

half a gram seems pretty excessive to me. if you snorted that over the course of an hour, with zero tolerance, you'd very likely knock yourself out.

However, they don't imagine that liberals, or a program set up by liberals, would help someone like them.

No wonder, when it's even OK for fox news to say that the left wants to "destroy everything" and "wish death on everybody".

it's utterly terrifying that this seems to be totally OK to say on one of the most watched news networks of the U.S.

at my last job, we developed games for online casinos with phaser (mostly slot machines). development started in 2014, and we looked at all the major html5 game frameworks, and phaser stood out by far for our requirements.
> no apparent histamine release

a lot of people, including myself, get very itchy from kratom, and i've always attributed that to histamine release. could it be something else?

this is the kind of thinking responsible for history being allowed to repeat itself.
Re:How to Start Running on Saturday April 02, 2016 @06:28PM (#11413829)
although it of course also may happen in normal traffic, dogs, children, bikes, and other joggers suddenly appearing in your path can happen a few dozen times on a long run, if you're in a crowded place.
since loratadine is a second-generation histamin receptor blocker, probably not if you are looking for sedating effects, because minimizing those was the main reason for developing this class of drug.
but at the same time it exhibits depressogenic effects in a lot of people. especially in higher dosages. so it's not really that clear cut.

you can also insufflate or chew tobacco. i don't find the comparison ridiculous at all. both contain psychoactive subtances, and can lead to serious health issues, or a decline in quality of life (tobacco of course being more dangerous than weed).
Re:Caffeine use disorder on Monday March 14, 2016 @08:46AM (#11282503)
you may want to rethink that practice after having a look at this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7796154

short summary: 200mg at 7 a.m., and going to bed at 11 p.m. had following effect: "Compared to placebo, sleep efficiency and total sleep time were significantly reduced."

my thoughts exactly, during a similar event. i was just trying to make sense of things, and due to the gravity of the unfolding events, being jesus or god was a possibility i just couldn't ignore, despite being in full possession of my mental faculties at the time.
i see it as just being a catchy title for a book about "Psychedelics and Religious Experiences".
what exactly are you afraid of?
Re:LSD: My Life-Saving Drug on Wednesday February 03, 2016 @03:35AM (#11025416)
can confirm. have also had many bad trips, and small amounts of alcohol now do wonders to prevent them, and don't interfere with the experience at all.
Re:CIA declassifies hundreds of UFO documents on Tuesday January 26, 2016 @03:20AM (#10972407)
history has shown us that we humans are so afraid of other humans that are not exactly like us, that we readily sacrifice values that are absolutely essential to the advancement of society, and our well being in general.

the knowledge of uncontrollable alien life forms visiting us, and maybe interacting or interfering with our lives, would very likely cause a world wide panic of epic proportions.

Re:CIA declassifies hundreds of UFO documents on Tuesday January 26, 2016 @02:57AM (#10972368)
i think the main issue with people having trouble believing in visitations from extraterrestrial species (or at least their technology), is that they have absolutely no sense for the age of the universe.

and the fact that so many people believe it to be utterly ridiculous that alien life forms could be exploring the galaxy, yet here we humans are, doing exactly that, is just completely mind-boggling to me.

More than 20 clinical trials have employed NAC as an adjunctive treatment in various psychiatric disorders. These include methamphetamine and cannabis dependence, nicotine and cocaine addiction, pathological gambling, obsessive–compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, nail biting and skin picking, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, and AD. In most of these studies, NAC had positive effects on clinical outcomes (Gere-Paszti and Jakus 2009; Samuni et al. 2013).

edit: NAC = N-acetylcysteine

that's like letting surgeons operate with kitchen knives, because everybody has experience with those.
Re:Show HN: Nodal. Next-Generation Node.js Server and Framework on Wednesday January 06, 2016 @06:38AM (#10849958)
do you honestly believe that ES6 is not an improvement for javascript? if so, why?
Re:Show HN: Nodal. Next-Generation Node.js Server and Framework on Wednesday January 06, 2016 @06:36AM (#10849949)
i could imagine that a decent full stack dev would rather use the right tool for the right job. thinking your scenario further, you would use something like couchdb instead of a relational db, because it utilizes javascript.
Re:Show HN: Nodal. Next-Generation Node.js Server and Framework on Wednesday January 06, 2016 @06:31AM (#10849932)
i just started my first node project for the simple reason that i need 70% of the functionality of the application on both the server and the client.
so are retailers like amazon just going to carry on selling these books, for in some cases hundreds of dollars, without any notice that you can get it for free, albeit only digitally?
