that’s difficult to reproduce at scale; there are only so many “super bowl” events in a calendar year
Congratulations on the launch!
I just shared this on Slack and it looks like the site description has a typo: "A serverless AI infrastructure platform [...] customers experience a 40%+ cost savings as opposed to AWS of GCP"
i haven’t personally used the AI pin, but based on reviews, it doesn’t feel like these devices are going to feel productive until a much higher % of queries is answered on-device (without going to the cloud).
MKBHD asked his pin what he was looking at, and in the time humane’s pin to take a pic, send it up to the cloud, decide what model is most appropriate, and narrate a really long (possibly hallucinatory) answer; he simply took his phone out and google lens answered correctly with a lot of time to spare.
I know these are first-gen products and the fact that this one would presumably have a much higher degree of context on my personal life might make this better (without speaking to privacy implications). Still, over-reliance on the cloud and the fact that this doesn’t interface with my phone (where most reminders, alarms, messages, etc, happen) is going to make these devices a tough sell.
That’s not how history works
I was so excited to see an engineering designer role open, but I can only do remote right now. Either way, I’m a big fan of the product!
Zoom? A company publicly traded on the Nasdaq and funded in San Jose, CA?
I do therapy and group therapy on Zoom, are they going to train a therapist AI? Does this go around HIPAA privacy rules? Would they keep a file on phi?
Revert to existing experience?
I would. They already know how much I need to pay them/how much they owe me. It should be as simple as a text message I reply “y/n” to.
Americans do schooling wrong, and kids have to worry about getting shot on top of being overworked. I wouldn’t feel incentivized to go to school either.
Hearing aids are generally calibrated for an individual’s specific frequency loss (usually done by a medical professional). We’re already seeing devices that simply amplify all frequencies, and while I’m no doctor, I can imagine boosting all frequencies for prolonged periods of time could lead to additional hearing loss.
Do the output limits change? If I give it an entire codebase, could it potentially spit out an entire codebase?
I’m wondering if this is a quick way to get to $5 each round trip (send and receive)
Quit almost three weeks ago and still feeling good. I'm not getting nearly as many callbacks as I was in 2020-21, but I think that's to be expected.
I started looking for work a little over a week ago and I've gotten a couple of bites, but they're all under “top of market” rates. Places are getting more and more aggressive about RTO which I feel is making remote roles a couple magnitudes more competitive.
As far as the industry, I would have figured people were going to be paralyzed because of the market and LLMs, and now I feel like people are paralyzed because of the market and LLMs scare me a lot less; they're prone to hallucination so I feel like we’ll still need people who know what they're doing... So they can manage 10-100 agents building stuff.
How expensive is this to run?
This won’t pass. How are you going to enforce this? Are you going to fine Montana residents 10K per TikTok post…?
Republicans keep pushing the most un-american stuff on this country. What happened to “freedom”?
… why should they be on the hook for something that was and should remain free, especially for an account like this. This is the same social media garbage fire that wrongly labeled the BBC and PBS and state sponsored media.
Daddy Yankee’s Gasolina was also included
Pretty sure it was powered by MSCHF
It's incredible to me that Siri and Google Assistant have been around for as long as they will be, but Bing will probably be the first service that'll turn your "Book a flight to SF tomorrow" prompt into an actual flight.
Bold of you to assume they’ve paid their GitHub bill
So, in the same way pixels have been found to illegally transmit protected health information (PHI) back to the social giants, MSFT is just sending any data in text boxes to their servers…? They’ll just deal with the class action when it comes…?
I just saw a project that lets you input an entire repo into GPT. Coincidentally, my place of employment just told us not to input any proprietary code into any generator with a retention policy.
Even then, I feel like the play will be an enterprise service instead of licensing.
I’m not advocating for killer robots, but wouldn’t we get the killer robots in our kitchens 10 years after the military gets them?
That “somebody” is the government in most developed places in the world. Except the United States which ties your healthcare to capitalism.
