haven't seen these keys on a keyboard in like 10 years o_O
I just tried that on Chrome on macOS and it doesn't work
I use a macbook pro and this is an issue for me quite often, maybe you'll be faster but it'll still be a hassle
Oh my... these macos notifications are driving me crazy, you can't just go and close them.

I think we should create some rules:

- if there's an animation/wait time to get to a UI, it's crap

- if users have to be fast to get to a UI, it's crap

Good luck scrolling to the bottom of a very long page. And then going back up.
That is because most pages are short... Now when you deal with long pages you get infuriated if you can't use the scrollbar directly.
I really hate it too, I don't understand why they do this... Even using Chrome on mac I can't scroll properly if I'm not fast enough to catch the scrollbar after a light scroll.
you failed at inclusivity and bias : )
My latest system design interview was: design this app. Dude was like "I'm expecting you to lead the conversation". I was like, bitch there's a million things to talk about, at some point you have to tell me where you want the convo to go. Needless to say I failed, when I'm probably overqualified for the job, but heh...
I just want to be able to airdrop things from mac to windows or nadroid devices

most of the time if I click there it's to copy/paste it somewhere else, and I'm pretty sure most people use it the same way.

so still not the fix for tree style tabs...

I'm not sure what you find ugly, actually I find your example ugly because it seems to be full of magic

> Facebook would be a lot less compelling without news.

Yet everyone complains here (me included) that Facebook should go back to its roots, and offer news about your friends only

The only thing that annoys me is that some of the articles in Facebook news are behind a paywall
Re:Daft Punk Break Up on Monday February 22, 2021 @05:46PM (#26231698)
There used to be a real energy to French electronic music. Between Daft Punk, Justice, Something a la Mode, Madeon, David Guetta, C2C, Joris Delacroix, Birdy Nam Nam, etc.

Now I feel like the scene is mostly American. Any modern French electronic artist?

Re:Facebook reported fake numbers to advertisers on Friday February 19, 2021 @05:36PM (#26198950)
This ^

It's mostly a hate post about facebook, rather than an interesting post. When you pay for advertising, you are always in the dark about the value you're getting unless you actually actively try to measure it yourself. If you don't, then you're committing a newbie mistake.

I thought the pixel was exactly this?

if you would link to that comment it would be helpful
Social networks != Facebook

you're aware that you're talking about legacy cryptocurrencies?

Re:Bitcoin surpasses $50K as major companies jump into crypto on Friday February 19, 2021 @01:07AM (#26190254)
> half of gold use is jewelry

uh, no that's not true. I bet there's more bitcoin being used to buy drugs than gold being used in jewelry

Re:Bitcoin surpasses $50K as major companies jump into crypto on Tuesday February 16, 2021 @11:59PM (#26162888)
That's a moot point, Gold actual usage has no relation with its usage as a store of value. It's used as a store of value because it's shiny and people associates it with "value".

Think: why are diamonds so expensive?

Re:Bitcoin surpasses $50K as major companies jump into crypto on Tuesday February 16, 2021 @11:58PM (#26162882)
The same reason why when you use Venmo you don't think "wait, why use USD at all if it's all a database?"

The truth is, the current financial system is just a large number of databases trying to sync with one another, and one of cryptocurrencies' goal is to decrease this amount of databases.

Re:Bitcoin surpasses $50K as major companies jump into crypto on Tuesday February 16, 2021 @11:54PM (#26162854)
I don't buy this argument, it sounds like you're just convinced that Bitcoin can't be a store of value because X and Y and completely ignore the fact that it is being used as a store of value.

> So then it becomes a digital store of value, one that is only as valued as the market gives it, and typically markets eventually correct when there’s no underlying true value proposition (as we can see with $GME).

You're not missing anything, you said it yourself it's a store of value. Maybe markets eventually correct, but in the last 10 years Bitcoin has only gone up, so if you had planned to use it to store value for 10 years a decode ago, then it worked pretty well.

> It also pushes only towards deflation, so it’s terrible as a wide spread value store because it removes an important tool that governments have to handle the economy

Well it's a store of value, not a tool for the gov to handle the economy.

Google+ was never here to stay, it came after Facebook and never grew.

I'm not sure what Friendster is, I guess it was never popular internationally?

Myspace got eaten by other social networks, so I'm not sure what you're trying to disprove?

Do you know what is actually worth more NOW? Because what matters is really what is worth more NOW.
