News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

The PowerStar was the i3. This happened this year and there is no mention of it in any articles I see.

The fear generated from this story adds a ton of power to things like the CHIPS Act. It benefits manufacturers, pushes a ton of narratives from China, US, Taiwan, Korea, Japan. Kind of a perfect story for so many different players.

This headline has been making the rounds. Super bearish news from the “Big Short” guy sells headlines.

This reminds me of the Litecoin / Walmart news where someone paid a journalist to report a bs headline. But at a larger scale.

If reddit doesn't do this, the bots will take over anyways. They probably already have.

AI is going to do a shitty job identifying AI, so all of your datasets are going to get worse and worse. I could imagine a bunch of generative AI bots just melting down every message board on the planet to the point where you have to stop training on recent data.

I was hoping for the bots to export their existential crisis' to the rest of the web. Bots producing a loop, where they train on the data that they produce, would create some insane results.

Intermittent energy. Doesn’t work well for manufacturing at all. Your argument, without nuclear, is an argument for natural gas and coal.

Industrials need steady power to function. Without nuclear, the world is going to just use natural gas. Coal for poorer countries. Solar and wind peppered in but not trusted for any base load and regionally limited.

Sounds like you are reading minds here.
Re:Why Python keeps growing, explained on Friday March 03, 2023 @07:50AM (#35008870)
If Python was a market, this would clearly be the top.

There was a time when all you had to learn was Java or C++ or (language or tool here). Somehow, this time when we standardize, it will be different.

I believe that this model is built using Excel and VBScript. I would love to see the source code for this.

These sorts of things should be shared before anyone starts basing policy on it. I want to know the inputs, the outputs, etc. I want a lot of people going though this, looking at the data.
