I thought I was alone in doing that and the writer felt the said. I love going to markets in places i travel to and seeing the different types of snacks they have. Often times I do walk in for toothpaste but then wander all around the store.
Reminds me when I moved to boston for a job as a young grad. Found a room available for rent on craigslist for $400 in a 2 floor apartment. Half way through living there, someone bought the vacant apartment downstairs and turns out the room I was staying in was owned by the downstairs people so I had to change rooms.
I think there's always a way to make these moves work. You just need to take a risk and be ready to suffer.
That's an odd thing to say. She is 24 years old and has super impressive academic credentials. She raised almost 70 million which is a huge amount for any startup. The professor probably wants a change in his life and wants to work on something more exciting.
This is how research works. Someone, somewhere, someday will see this study and do just that. Or it could be the next step for the researchers at UC Davis who published this.
I'm building a dating app for what I think is an untapped market. I'm just worried the apple store is going to reject it. I read back in 2020 they aren't accepting more dating apps but I've also seen a number of new ones pop up.
I feel like most engineers on hackernews/reddit have been underestimating AI tech. People always say it sucks and it gets starts hallucinating nonexistent libraries and what not but we are still in the early phase of this technology. And that how it could never replace them as AI will make current engineers more efficient.
I've been scared of AI since seeing chatgbt a couple of years ago. I feel like it's only a matter of time until a dev can feed an AI machine it's entire code base and business requirements. And then a separate AI could carry out the manual/integration testing tasks. AI could potentially cut down the number of devs required to maintain a webapp or ios app after it's built.
I feel triggered by this post especially because I've made it a career writing automation code haha.
I remember that. I used to walk to school and would jump be looking down the entire time to avoid stepping on worms. Now I hardly see them.
How the heck did they get the fingerprint from that? Is there actually tech to enhance blurry images like that?
https://github.com/ahussain1/medicine-app I started this in April and never finished it. I wanted to start a WebMD for people in Bangladesh as people there don't speak English. It's a country of 180m and there's more people throughout the world. I think it has potential but I need help with app development :L
Hello, I applied to a role here last month but never heard back
I've one too and shelled out almost 3k for it. Now I really regret it cause everyone's saying the Air's are better than the old pros. Mine also runs hot all the time from basic use but it helps that I use external keyboard and trackpad for it.
Can I get a refund on my 16" MBP
Cause everyone being naked is the pinnacle of society?
I'm entering my late 20s. I'm wondering if I still have a chance
I heard in Japan when you buy pants at retailers, they will hem it for you free of charge.
Hello, you replied to one of my comments about planting trees for income. Is it possible to contact you? Thank you.
Sometimes looking for deals on craigslist. Every now and then you will see someone that doesn't know the value of what they're selling. In 2016, I was able to find a 15" MBP for only $750. The guy listed as a cracked laptop when it was a small 3 inch scratch near the corner of the screen, so no one reached out to him. It's hard to notice when the laptop is on even when you're looking at it. Probably the best purchase I ever made.
Not a bad idea...how do I get into that. Do you have more info? I'm gonna look into it
A friend was telling me how they make over $200 an hour. For a job that doesn't require a technical chops of a fullstack dev, that sounds crazy to me but doable.
I've been trying to build a medical dictionary app in the Bengali language. I want to make that knowledge accessible to Bengali speakers that don't speak English. Hard part has been finding someone to translate drug information from English to Bengali.
I second this. To OP, background checks are often a lot less comprehensive than you think.
And how long have you been an engineer? And how did you prep? Would be a dream for me to get a job there one day.
My gf in Colombia said that healthcare workers are being told by certain groups not to go to the hospital or they will be killed. They are writing that stuff outside their doors and buildings.
I worked with a blind dev and his screen reader is incomprehensible by everyone but him. It had to be at like 5-6x. Guy was a wizard. Sure he had some disadvantages with vision but the guy was wicked fast and would pump out the most code
Most of us on HN are well off and have the opportunity to WFH. Things aren't the same for the rest of the general public. All of those essential workers risking their necks for us should have access to masks.
That's another lie. Go to HD or Walmart and ask them how long they've been out of stock for. There was never a rush in the US. Healthcare workers should have their own supply from hospitals.
CDC has said the same. Now people defend them saying they lied because they didn't want the public to hoard them but mask supply chains have been effected since probably January. I went to multiple Home Depots (upstate NY) end of February and they all told me they've been out of stock for more than a month. We couldn't hoard them even if we wanted to. Why even lie? It's pretty damn infuriating. Sk, HK, and Taiwan all have it under control because people there have been a lot more careful. They don't leave the house without a mask. Meanwhile in NYC, people were all casual about it up until maybe last week. Partly because of the delay in government response.
That's a bad way of looking at it. First of all, sports are entertaining. There's a reason why people like it. Second, no one gets there without hard work. For every kid that makes it to college basketball, there are probably hundreds of others that didn't make it even high school basketball from the under 10s.
I've group friends at work and we have a whatsapp group where we talk at least a few times a week. Three people in our group of 6 left for new jobs this past year and we're still in contact. One guy moved to Michigan for a job last June. He came back to NY just to visit us and we organized a few dinners and get togethers during his stay. It's not really a farfetched idea to love the people you work with every day.
