Re:GPT-5.6 Sol can beat Factorio on peaceful mode on Monday November 02, 2026 @01:14PM (#50341063)
The game tells you how much of each resource you need for each recipe, and it tells you how to get them. It doesn't tell you how many of each recipe you may need up front but that information surfaces as the game progresses.
Re:GPT-5.6 Sol can beat Factorio on peaceful mode on Saturday October 31, 2026 @04:10PM (#50319653)
What information is hidden in Factorio? I can't think of any stat that isn't shown to the player in some way.
Re:Spain train crash: 'At least 10 dead' in high-speed collision on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @03:55PM (#50279963)
Those inconveniences prevent tragedies like this one.
Re:PHP web runtimes (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @06:14PM (#50188412)
Even assuming they didn't have prior knowledge, I don't understand why AWS is going to take 24+ hours to incorporate an upstream fix.
Interesting. Jev is certainly faster but it was wrong quite a bit more than I was.
Re:AI is a tool and using it well takes skill on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @09:20AM (#50071288)
I'm still amazed at how many problems people come to me with which I am able to resolve immediately by reading the error message they are looking at!
Re:Solar Panels That Plug into Your Wall on Monday October 12, 2026 @09:46PM (#50065548)
Plug in solar inverters turn off when they detect a loss of grid power. Anti-islanding is a requirement for them to be certified.
Re:Solar Panels That Plug into Your Wall on Monday October 12, 2026 @09:44PM (#50065537)
These systems monitor for a loss of grid power and turn off when they detect an outage. UL 3700 is the standard, if you want to read more about it.
Re:Google Playground: Create and play custom games on Thursday October 08, 2026 @02:58AM (#50002593)
Isn't that what Sora was?
Re:Tokens Too Cheap to Meter on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @03:30PM (#49821282)
Those aren't really equivalent. Iran is affecting the supply of oil, an input. China can affect the supply of solar panels, but they would have to do something pretty drastic to affect the supply of the input. Sunlight is going to keep reaching the solar panels that were set up prior to any kind of embargo.
Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @06:38PM (#49635593)
I think maybe they're making a joke about the Ruger Mini-14? It's a rifle.
Re:Claude Code May–August 2026 weekly limits promotion on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @02:30PM (#49350302)
Wasn't that a limited time promotion from OpenRouter? I didn't see anything from OpenAI themselves.
Re:AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read) on Monday August 17, 2026 @05:56PM (#49338243)
Volume is the problem. There's so much more of it now. Many platforms I used to enjoy are just overwhelmed with valueless content.
Re:China is now the world's greatest oil power on Monday August 10, 2026 @10:04PM (#49252489)
Right, but oil transiting the strait is down below 25% of its normal amount.
I know of a guy who, before attending in-person meetings for the first time with new people, sends the message "FYI, I am 7 feet tall." He's gotten enough weird looks or outright stunned people that he takes precautionary measures.
Re:China is now the world's greatest oil power on Monday August 10, 2026 @11:54AM (#49245345)
That doesn't fully explain it, the amount of oil making it through the strait is a small fraction (less than 25%) of the amount that normally flows through there.
There is a game called Squad that has a lot of similarity to BF2 in terms of teamwork and coordination. It's a spiritual successor to the BF2 mod called Project Reality.
Re:FCC moves to ban Lidar-equipped foreign drones from US on Sunday August 09, 2026 @04:20PM (#49235396)
Palmer Luckey owns a drone company. He can't have an objective opinion on his competitors being banned.
That sounds awful. Thankfully the regimen now is only one shot of HRIG and four doses of the vaccine over two weeks.
Re:Atlassian Rovo Exfiltrates Data, Bypassing Controls on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @03:30PM (#49187766)
Don't worry, you can use Rovo to summarize the document! That way you can get the information your coworker wanted to share but filtered through a game of teLLMephone.
Re:Cloudflare OS: an open platform for agents, apps, and work on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:21AM (#49184208)
Neat! How does that work with the AI Gateway portion? I see some references in the code but at a quick glance I can't tell if you can configure it to skip AI Gateway.
Re:Cloudflare OS: an open platform for agents, apps, and work on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:13AM (#49184110)
Interesting, so how does this work with regards to purposeful but naive changes? If, for example, we have a Notion integration, and a non-technical user can add a feature to it via prompt, would it be possible for them to accidentally add something that sends a bunch of internal-only proprietary data to Notion? Would this system prevent or flag that in some way?
Re:Karpathy's Pelican on Sunday August 02, 2026 @03:29PM (#49147518)
Yes, but I think the idea here is that most models produce very similar pelicans on bicycles, so a different test might be more useful in gauging the differences in models.
Re:Cloudflare's new AI traffic options for customers on Saturday July 25, 2026 @10:54PM (#49054208)
How would they cache and serve responses without decrypting the traffic?
Re:Total Iran Economic Damage Estimate on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @06:10PM (#48562876)
It's kind of a nonsensical explanation. As you quoted, the source says it's "not a reconstruction or reparations program" but they go on to say it will be called the Reconstruction and Development Fund and that the program will "include securing loans, establishing credit lines or directly financing the reconstruction of sites damaged in the war ... and, more broadly, infrastructure affected by the conflict."
Wasn't that a UAW summit about EVs? Tesla does not work with UAW, so they wouldn't appear at a UAW event.
Re:The seed oil panic is hurting my cardiac patients on Sunday May 24, 2026 @11:10AM (#48257880)
The author ran for city council where I live. From what I remember of him, it would be very out of character for him to use AI to write a health article.
Re:Japan runs out of robot wolves in fight against bears on Saturday May 16, 2026 @03:48PM (#48163178)
"TIDE TURNS AGAINST HUMAN TERROR-BOTS"
Where did they say "stop driving the vehicle"? I don't think that happened. The instructions were to drive the vehicle to a service center for a drop-in check (or wait for mobile service) which obviously wouldn't be possible if you couldn't drive it.
