Re:The SEC Should Block Anthropic's IPO to Protect the Public on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:15PM (#50346216)
I'm seeing in offices, usage has gone down significantly. For alot of people, it takes more time to figure out how to get ai to do something vs just doing it.
Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:16PM (#50277073)
If i wanted a touch screen mb air, id get an ipad. i will actively avoid these. apple has been dropping the ball big time lately. ive noticed siri has a 5 second delay on my phone now, making reminder setting not so easy.

is graphene os ready for primetime yet?

I pay $10 a month for an AI Studio with an uncensored or de-censored Deepseek, and, quite a few others actually. Fun to use and cheap.

I have no idea how anyone is going to profit off this stuff. I mean I make videos, images, analysis, presentations etc etc with this studio. $10 a month. Web interface. In addition to the 15 others I use randomly for generic searches.

I've noticed now that google is cf negative, search might as well be called google billboard. they are admaxxing everything for as much rev as possible. its terrible, and i often use perplexity and chat in lieu of google search. as a matter of fact i find perplexity often produces much better results.
Re:Where Wealth Is Moving in America (2023) on Thursday October 22, 2026 @12:49PM (#50197904)
Pretty sure Medicaid is funded by both. California expanded it to cover more, probably because of the wealth inequality in that state.

So, the source of the problem isn't federal, its wealth inequality.

Wall street and silicon valley folks are not as well liked outside those bubbles as those in the bubbles might think...

Re:Tesla Roadster on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @06:29PM (#50188575)
pff Very reliable! And ALOT of fun which is what's important to me.

Teslas just feel like legos, build qualify is not very high ime.

Wrong. Israel is the epicenter of all conflicts.
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:28PM (#50122369)
I'll stick with my s2000. Thank you.
Re:Muse Spark Open on Thursday October 15, 2026 @06:34PM (#50111339)
Yawn.
You can have peace or Israel, not both.
Re:QGIS bans AI assisted contributions on Monday October 12, 2026 @05:08PM (#50063097)
Can someone, maybe the team at craft, please make a clone of ArcMap?
Re:Dots: Always-on agents on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @01:41PM (#49897293)
I feel like these companies are pushing on a string, they are getting desperate to have a profitable product. I'll continue to use my $10 subscription to an AI studio noone here has heard of that has over 150 models. And still use all the free ones, until they quit working.

I really am beyond maxed out at the availability of AI's. They all are so similar now.

Re:Show HN: Doom or Bloom, map your AI worldview on Friday September 25, 2026 @04:41PM (#49849684)
I couldnt get past 30%. Useless.
Re:Back and shoulder surgery is often worse than useless on Thursday September 24, 2026 @09:05PM (#49838958)
I've had a searing rotator cuff for over 2 years. Someone recommended peptides called Wolverine Blend. It is now healed after 3 weeks of injections.

The thing is, this seems to be rather common.

Will Muse cut down on scrolling? I've read about people using it to summarize FB Marketplace listings, cutting down on time spent there.

I of course won't use it.

Re:Make your first edit to OpenStreetMap on Saturday September 12, 2026 @09:34PM (#49679035)
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I've made my fist OSM updates. As a former gis guy, this is awesome!
Re:What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks on Saturday September 12, 2026 @07:39PM (#49678391)
Well, as a bar owner, I use Toast surcharging.

https://support.toasttab.com/en/article/Toast-Surcharge-Over...

Any other questions?

Re:What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @06:36PM (#49635569)
Correct, Toast specifically will not allow it under any circumstance.

Debit cards issued by smaller community banks or credit unions are exempt from the cap and carry higher interchange rates (often 1.0%–1.65% + $0.10).

All merchants should either do Surcharging or Cash Discount.

Re:Starbase, LA on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @05:59PM (#49441273)
Hmmm. Aquire all these properties under the guise of reviving things for racing and oopsie it failed what ever shall we do with all these properties now? Oh yeah do what we do best – build data centers.
Re:Credit card debt rises to $1.26T, nearing all-time record on Saturday August 15, 2026 @08:39PM (#49315713)
Are you saying the bond market would go without a bid?
Re:America has become an entrepreneur's paradise on Monday July 27, 2026 @08:07PM (#49077455)
"health insurance is really expensive when you have to cover it yourself."

Not necessarily, often it is much less.

t. I am a partner in an L&H insurance agency.

Very cool I'm going to share with our NEKAAL group at Farpoint Observatory.
Is there really demand for 4000 plus data centers? I have a feeling that's shooting a bit above the mark (10x).
Relying on soil surveys at 5 acres is typically not advised. Soil samples will always yield best results. Your State Ag School usually will process them gratis or for little cost (they may ask to add the sample to a database). The more samples the better!

One of the best:

https://www.agronomy.k-state.edu/outreach-and-services/soil-...

Homeowners, if you care about your grass looking great, not a bad idea to get a sample.

Former GIS guy here, I've modeled and mapped hundreds of rural jurisdictions so I'm familiar with what you are trying to accomplish. Not sure how comprehensive USDA soil surveys are these days as soil conditions can be hyper local (down to the feet).

Many of large ranch lands and farms are going to be listed exclusively by a certain broker which may require website scrapping at minimum and or heads up data entry at worst.

Colorado:

https://www.ranchland.com/

For general usability, I'd suggest at a minimum adding State and County lines, and further, census place points for labeling.

You've included some interesting filters that's for sure.

And of course my usual plug for a great mapping book - How to Lie with Maps - https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/H/bo274005...

I'd be willing to give you input.

At Farpoint Observatory, this is a major concern for those keeping an eye out for near Earth objects.
Does this ring true in California?

Memory prices will adjust accordingly as this becomes the norm.
Re:Claude Fable 5 Promotional Access on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @05:14PM (#48753201)
Yawn, after Toasts AI provided me with very incorrect sales numbers, I'm scaling back ai use. Its glorified search for non coders at best.
