Unrelated to Bose's open hardware: The project Gadgetbridge has headsets and earplugs from various brands, but almost no Bose. https://gadgetbridge.org/gadgets/headphones/bose/ The community show interest, but still nothing. https://codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/issues?stat...

Please also consider the GL-iNEt Puli (XE300): - 5V 2A USB C connector and a 5000mAh battery - SIM and [not tested by myself] eSIM support. - Tailscale and Nebula available as a plug-in. - Main network and guest network can be set. - OpenWRT if you want the GL-iNET firmware.
Projects like Valetudo, CoMaps, and Pixel Experience OS (to name a few) also rely on a Telegram group. Not everyone uses Matrix to build a community.

I'm sure this is what commenter meant. GadgetBridge even works without the need of accessing the internet, and open source app that gets regular updates and has a nightly build available. I get my wearables and others from their list of supported devices https://gadgetbridge.org/gadgets/

Re:Jellyfin as a Spotify Alternative on Thursday April 17, 2025 @09:00AM (#43716182)
France Inter Paris (FIP) it's awesome!

And remember you can always get the audio steam through HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), on its M3U format, or others with better quality. There are many Android apps like Transistor to enjoy the stream, and even VLC can open these, in order to avoid using a web browser.

Likewise, I prefer online radios than big tech algorithms that craft my music experience.

Another route is to go serverless and use DecSync. Thunderbird (or Evolution) will sync with the Android app (F-Droid available) and your Cal, your Cards, and tasks, and even RSS will be replicated on the other peers.

https://github.com/39aldo39/DecSync

*KOReader
Librera FD (F-Droid) has OPDS stripped out. https://github.com/foobnix/LibreraReader/issues/1335 But you can get the Play Store version through Obtainium. It's the PRO version (also available with Obtainium) the one with OPDS support.

Kore reader also can open OPDS collections.

Re:Librum: Open-Source e-book platform on Tuesday December 19, 2023 @10:15AM (#38696576)
I came to the comment section expecting to read about Kavita. Thank you.

Luckily also other projects like Librera and KOReader (for other uses) were mentioned here too.

Don't forget about that marvelous standard called OPDS.

Re:Building a freedom-friendly WiFi pocket-router (2021) on Friday November 24, 2023 @02:25AM (#38401410)
Make sure you have a good AC adapter and cable. Mine it's the GL-MT300N (v2) and I keep on missing the signal (although it's not rebooting). Not the proper voltage or amps might be the reason.

Another app to interact with HN is Materialistic. It's old, but it does the trick. The widget to show the top stories is its best feature. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/io.github.hidroh.materialist...

Re:Malicious Android Apps Slip into Disguise on Thursday August 03, 2023 @12:21PM (#36987961)
