that's the same situation as children putting in their parents details/scanning their face/whatever, you're not going to solve this technically

the point is non-govt entities shouldn't get any information about you during age verification other than that you're over 18 and that's what ZKP can give you

>how do you verify age without verifying identity

zero-knowledge proofs

shady and slimy? what are you talking about?
prompt writing and parsing the AI output, and thats still work you have to do - not sure why you bring up parallelism since you cant do other things while you're writing the prompts
AI can write 2000 lines faster than you, but you can write the 2000 lines correctly first shot faster than having AI do 10 iterations on these 2000 lines with your guidance to finally get it right

I know that a better plan could mean fewer iterations, but again that extends the time you need to spend on that plan => the total time of the AI solution

here's a nice critique of SOLID principles:

https://www.tedinski.com/2019/04/02/solid-critique.html

you can't be serious, have an honest look at the history of US involvment around the world in the last ~80 years and tell me how can you be pro-West and pro-capitalist...

hell, even just the situation we're in right now perfectly illustrates what I mean - a rapist president trying to save face and causing the death and suffering of thousands of innocent people - and you're wrong if you think capitalist forces didn't lead us to this point

I've recently moved my storage to Jottacloud (Norway), highly recommend - they do - gdrive style storage - dropbox style synced folders - photo app/backups - PC folder backups with apps for mac/win and a cli for linux

People go into finance or adtech not because they have some innate drive towards making markets liquid, they go there mostly because it's more money -> higher quality of life. Moving more money into socially meaningful and beneficial fields (which is still far from a planned economy as the sibling comment noted) is not denying anyone agency.

Re:Experts Have World Models. LLMs Have Word Models on Tuesday February 10, 2026 @08:23AM (#46959382)
It doesn't align with your point

My point is that your reasoning is too reductive - completely ignoring the mechanics of the system - and you claim the system is capable of _anything_ if prompted correctly. You wouldn't say the replicator system is capable of the reasoning outlined in the article, right?

Re:Experts Have World Models. LLMs Have Word Models on Monday February 09, 2026 @12:56PM (#46948456)
a system that copies its input into the output is capable of any output, no?

funny you say that, I was literally just booking a flight with air china yesterday and the UX was 10x better than the average wizzair/ryanair experience - a clear, readable UI (with a great table comparison of prices +-3 days from the selected dates), no ads, no random services getting pushed in your face, no booking tabs automatically opening in the background
quite the opposite actually, your comment adds nothing to the discussion
not sure I'd trust what Sam Altman publicly says in this regard, here's a rather different picture: https://www.wheresyoured.at/oai_docs

These concerns are already perfectly applicable to the current state of the world, no? More planetary boundaries keep getting crossed due to unnecessarily large resource usage, the poorest people don't have access (even though they could) to the resources necessary to survive...

Re:Write to Escape Your Default Setting on Friday February 28, 2025 @12:09PM (#43207903)
I use a probably similar workflow (writing about everything, multiple journals - work projects, personal projects, notes taken when reading books, random thoughts, relationship topics etc.) and I feel like electronic vs paper/pen definitely makes a difference. I use both types for different things.

Electronic obviously has the advantage of being able to edit the text in a non-linear fashion, which I think is something necessary for the notes I take for work. Being in the same 'space' as the work I do (so on screen) is also helpful, as well as being able to include things like hyperlinks/chunks of code. Since I type fast, taking digital notes also lets me dump whatever is in my head faster (this is usually relevant for other types than work notes).

Paper on the other hand I feel puts me into a different headspace when writing (might be the lack of a screen, or maybe the slower writing?) and is (usually, not always) more fitting for stuff I write about personal topics or books. Some types of notes (e.g. stuff about music) also benefit from the freedom pen on paper gives you - adding scribbles, drawings, formatting text in non-standard visual ways. Small paper notebooks are of course also much easier to take with you on trips and write on a bus, train, park bench or w/e (I've heard some people use phones but I can't imagine myself writing proper notes on a smartphone keyboard).

It's definitely a tool to break bad habits, but the psychedelic effect can also be recreational, especially before breakthrough doses - not that I use it myself, but I know of some people who do ; )
I totally agree, but why do you think people don't use DMT recreationally?

I've been thinking about contributing a certain chess variant to lichess, but I haven't reached out to them or done any research yet - what makes you think they aren't interested in adding new variants? Have they made any statements about that in the past?

>I can't imagine anyone saying that obvious autotuned songs sound good.

Well just look at the status quo of popular rap music then - tons of artists are aiming for the obvious autotune style and tons of people are listening to it (so I assume they think it sounds good). I'm not sure what you mean by "artistic", but it's definitely a sound people try to achieve on purpose in their music, so I think it does deserve some recognition as "art".
