How will this affect Supabase I wonder?
Re:Grok 4 Fast now has 2M context window on Sunday November 09, 2025 @12:02AM (#45863043)
Epic gaslighting effort.
Re:Native visionOS platform support on Wednesday April 23, 2025 @01:00AM (#43768731)
They already said they plan to do this in the PR.
A masterclass in the classic rug pull.
Are we one step closer to lightsabers?
Totally deserved for a morally corrupt business.
Highly recommend this guy’s channel, he livestreams building a Vulkan game engine and he has a crazy style too https://youtube.com/@tokyospliff?si=CMF53295xeETykbP
Amazing work!

Absolutely astonishing and riveting read.
Re:Show HN: I made a catalog of useful GPTs on Tuesday November 21, 2023 @06:40PM (#38372253)
Question is, is anyone making a catalog of the catalogs? There are a lot.

Don't worry Alvy, those who really know Pixar, really know you were there right from the get go.

My whole fascination for computer graphics came from a 1987 BBC documentary that included a section about Pixar, Alvy, Bill Reeves and Loren Carpenter (part of it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-zlQ1kVK1k&t=375s)

It still blows my mind too that there isn’t a single opinionated framework. Imagine how much further forward JS would be. Rails is still an order of magnitude more productive than anything we have tried on JS, but everyone asks for JS because easier to find people. Truly maddening that JS somehow grabbed the popularity crown.

Re:AWS and Blockchain on Monday November 21, 2022 @05:05AM (#33690842)
I've lost count of how many product owners have interchanged the word Database with Blockchain to try and score some PR points with their customers/bosses.
Re:Why is Rosetta 2 fast? on Wednesday November 09, 2022 @11:28AM (#33533929)
It is quite astonishing how seamless Apple has managed to make the Intel to ARM transition, there are some seriously smart minds behind Rosetta. I honestly don't think I had a single software issue during the transition!

Who remembers the Jupiter Ace? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter_Ace
I sometimes ponder whether we fundamentally just went in the wrong direction from the very start with quantum physics, but we ended up so far down the road it was impossible to start again.

Disclaimer: I'm not a physicist and my understanding is superficial at best.

Re:Limb lengthening surgery is becoming more popular on Sunday May 01, 2022 @12:31AM (#31222201)
I bet there is a direct correlation to Instagram usage here, particularly filters that allow you to lengthen your legs in this particular case.

Instagram is a ticking time bomb of mental health problems related to self image issues, particularly in younger women.

This.
I know who the pilot was on this flight and I’m damn happy she won’t be getting near the controls of a plane again anytime soon. Coworkers were astonished she didn’t rip the flaps off.

Re:Sir Clive Sinclair has died on Thursday September 16, 2021 @10:09PM (#28560421)
Probably the saddest day in my IT career, this man started it all for me.

Yet you are ok with your Microwave/Washing Machine/Car etc being supplied as a software/hardware combination...
Honestly is anyone surprised..

Re:The Political History of Pad Thai on Wednesday January 08, 2020 @07:04PM (#21997141)
I’ve lived in Thailand over a decade, Pad Thai is hugely popular amongst Thai people.
So a few problems:

1. No trial of any kind without subscribing (yes I know about the refund option).

2. No way to contact support when logged in.

3. No way to delete my account (it's 2019 people...)

Will certainly take another look when I can try without buying.

Re:The LEGO Group acquires BrickLink on Tuesday November 26, 2019 @08:13PM (#21644428)
There is a huge untapped market opportunity for Lego in the adult space IMO. I am a lifelong Lego fan (48yrs young), and I still buy the odd set (just finished 42099 which was epic).

The problem is the perception by many that this is a kids toy. I have a 5 year old daughter, so even that excuse barely works :D
