Re:JSON for Linking Data on Thursday March 30, 2023 @04:05PM (#35378142)
well, i would like a couple of links if that's not too much to ask
Re:JSON for Linking Data on Monday March 27, 2023 @03:17AM (#35323784)
same reason wikis arent, it takes too much effort to maintain and keep it semantic instead of copypasted pile of text

you'd need CMS, CRM, knowledge base, documentation, source control, chat/forum, inventory, point of sale, customer support channels, issues ticketing system, and every other thing interconnected to with each other

do you know of anyone offering this as a complex turn-key integrated solution at a reasonable price?

the difference is: you choose which people you interact with, and may never even meet a bot account, if you just stick to people you know
Re:Mastodon Hit 10M Users on Monday March 20, 2023 @10:55PM (#35242013)
if all you wanted to do is look around, it is understandable why giving up was this easy.

honestly, if github and HN suffice for all your social needs, you probably dont need anything else.

microblogging is not for everyone. but for others, since twitter is just no longer viable, people have been migrating to something that can't be just bought out by yet another rich asshole. plus privacy, extended control over your own data, and all that other nerd shit no one cares about.

which server?

there are multiple server-side platforms too, incl. some forks, so if mastodon.social is not for you – look around for better lighter alternatives (as well for self-hosting)

this website was made during the ipad-pro/retina gold-rush of apple fame, low'ish contrast is another symptom

since when, even mac fanboys started to pay way more attention to general accessibility, now that Johnny Ive is no longer a default idol

well, embedded pdf on iOS looks like a single image of the first page with no ability to scroll or interact in any way, not even select text.

so a text-link outstide of noembed would be a nice alternative anyways, i bet it will be better for screenreaders too

yeah, i have no idea how people seem to use internet for everything but cant bring themselves to copy paste a single url

maybe it just show how little someone else's content is important to you

Re:Twitter Suspends PG's Account on Sunday December 18, 2022 @06:39PM (#34045746)
you can pin tab with your instance, or even open it in a sidebar

if that's the biggest obstacle

Re:Twitter Suspends PG's Account on Sunday December 18, 2022 @06:35PM (#34045684)
1. you can copy-paste same url ( https://mas.to/@paulg ), no need to re-format, event simply writing `paulg` will start the search and likely find intended user pretty fast

2. https://indieweb.org/webactions

Re:Twitter Suspends PG's Account on Sunday December 18, 2022 @05:49PM (#34044888)
tbf same bus-factor applies to everything you collect

but have you tried simply using bookmarks in your browser — full control, full responsibility

also if you on the level of creating and maintaining your own server — its all open source

Re:Twitter Suspends PG's Account on Sunday December 18, 2022 @05:47PM (#34044841)
which exact part is frustrating?

there are some additional twitter-like mobile clients, i.e.

which supposedly fix the difference
