Exactly like that.

It’s reading minds…

But seriously, have we tried to run neural data through this.

Re:Intel stock collapse worsens as $3.5T chip rout spreads on Monday November 02, 2026 @08:32PM (#50346840)
Im still bullish on them at this price though. The terafab (already under construction) collab with Elon and 14A being the most powerful chip when they get it right has a lot of potential.

> It would still be one expert model chosen to operate on another expert model of (let's say for this discussion) approximately the same size.

This would be earth shattering. That would mean we’re essentially at RSI.

Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:57PM (#50346564)
I think the latter is more impressive…
The government is doubling down on helping their big oil buddies/donors.
Until this troglodyte administration is done. EVs are the future, the US will have to make the change at some point.
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:54PM (#50344388)
You’re not getting it. There might be a chance humans never have to be in this field again so why bother understanding it unless you need it for another unsolved field and at that point you just ask the LLM to explain what you need. We’re obviously not there yet but that is the logical conclusion to this process.
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:13PM (#50343849)
RSI RSI RSI RSI!
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:35AM (#50334745)
Like a toaster that just toasts bread.
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:32AM (#50334727)
This is the dumbest, most troglodyte “solution” to this frontier pushing development. WHO does this benefit besides a handful of mathematicians?
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:30AM (#50334716)
This is another 15 min phase like “prompt engineering”. Soon it’s going to be just a CEO and an LLM.
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:16AM (#50334630)
> Mathematics has become a field where results themselves matter less

Results are the only things that truly matter. Everything else is a position advocating for someone’s quality of life.

Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:14AM (#50334615)
It’s too early to tell but math could be an AI only field with automatic research and advancement.
Yeah, I was relying on anecdotal experience so I went and looked it up and they do an incredible amount. Well, it’s too late though I can’t modify or delete my comment anymore.
Re:Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power on Sunday November 01, 2026 @05:50PM (#50330742)
Yeah the whole thing is some feminist grift that isn’t going to go away unless you repeatedly bring up the hypocrisy/idiocy every time someone dabbles in the idea.
Go ahead and downvote me for this, but the medical field in the US especially when it comes to RNs needs a shake up. This is going to sound very crass, but the only skill that your average person on the street doesn’t have that nurses have is to stick a needle in a vein and that’s something that can be taught to a lay person over a week. Pretty much everything else are skills that any person off the street possesses and we would do well to have a lower bar for entry for it.
Re:Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power on Sunday November 01, 2026 @02:59PM (#50329145)
All masculinity is positive, even if you don’t like some aspects of it. That’s like saying illogical and hysterical behavior brought on by hormonal changes during women’s periods is toxic femininity. That’s our biological imperative and any deviation from traditional or normal masculinity is just an unstable equilibrium of temporary behavioral modulation.
Your book cover images are trash and I don’t blame you. There isn’t a good compendium of high-quality cover images and metadata for books that you can use for commercial purposes. Google books is amazing but they won’t let you use it for commercial purposes so there is a huge hole in the market if someone is willing to solve it. Calibre does a pretty good job, but it has its own algorithm that is very convoluted and involves searching Google images and multiple other sources and compiling them.
I wish we actually did things quickly instead of taking forever and having a million ethical issues about everything. We know how to get close to light speed. You can just explode nuclear bombs behind you. Why don’t we do it? Worried about a high atmosphere nuclear explosion then just put the bomb and escape shuttle like you do with humans or something. Every goddamn thing takes forever. Oh, we’re gonna go to Mars in 2038 fuck that get some volunteers that are OK with dying and go tomorrow. Oh, we can’t go into human trials until we spent five years doing lab testing fuck that get some people that are terminal and let them try weird drugs that will potentially kill them tomorrow. There are a ridiculous number of people that will sign onto incredibly risky things because they feel passionate about it and are OK with giving up their life for it and we should do it.
Re:Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:11PM (#50317975)
I’ve lived for so long now that I’m cynical to many forms of government. What I currently think works best is a group of well educated brainy people, but that are led by some sort of strongman that makes all the final decisions. Seems to have worked for China and over the last decade in India. The US currently seems to have a strongman president but it’s missing the other crucial element of educated experts in his administration.
Re:Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament on Saturday October 31, 2026 @09:55AM (#50316231)
It was until they got invaded by a failed state.
I’ve been to Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, Finland, the British Isles, all of it really.
ROI in the space is not complicated, their revenue is already insane. You just drive down costs with fixed capex (GPUs), that will continue to pay out over 5-10 years. These are growing pains, they need to make it past the GPU scarcity/ramp up phase.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:15PM (#50308851)
Oh yeah, when I worked for a crypto place, I managed several of the development teams. It would have actually been trivial for me to move hundreds of millions of dollars worth of crypto to a personal account. Why didn’t I do it? Probably because I’m an idiot and a good employee. This is when tornado cash was in full swing and Monero was still exchangeable for USD. I would have gotten away pretty cleanly.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:12PM (#50308790)
It depends on what the engineer did to the laptop and if it’s his fault. If it was a vanilla install, and he didn’t do anything shifty to try and get around the device management access and permissions then it isn’t his fault.
Re:Google value plunges by $500B as AI fears rattle Wall Street on Thursday October 29, 2026 @09:07PM (#50298636)
There’s too much actual value for a flaming crash.
Re:Google Search is now less than half of Alphabet’s revenue on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:00PM (#50292300)
That’s nonsense. What about Maps, Sheets, Android, Meet, Chrome, Cloud etc. I don’t even know how you can exclude YouTube. It’s basically something they’ve worked on for more than a decade at this point. The number of google products we all use on a daily basis is pretty stunning.
Re:Formlabs Studio 1 $699 Resin Printer on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:51PM (#50292125)
I think they’ve considered a lot of these problems from the perspective of handling resin when they designed the system. The vapors are carcinogenic too, so they have an inbuilt air filteration system. The whole washing and UV curing stations can be done without ever having to touch the resin. I guess I don’t know what happens in case of a failure and how you have to deal with the pool of resin in the bottom of the plate even after a successful print job.

EDIT: So I looked it up a bit more and it seems like in the case of failed prints. If you want to clean out the resin, it does have a partial solution that helps you print out a cleaning sheet to capture all the debris so you may not have to do filtering also after a successful print, you can just leave the leftover resin in the tray that does not need to be dealt with.

I’ve never really consider sexual impropriety problematic in someone I look up to unless it’s pedophilia or rape.
