Why is the nearby bicycle same distance as far away building?

You blurred yakusoku, everybody knows that, but houshuu is much rarer word, should have blurred that

It's like FakeBlock from Arrested development

How would you mime "else" in charades?
Re:Why Is This Fingerprinting Script Creating Bioweapons? on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:43PM (#50278885)
Why is it always ricin and water supply? I thought ricin is not soluable in water and would just float on the surface in some water tower or air chamber somewhere for ever.

Update: they said wontfix, typical, just like human devs
In Slovak it's "Umelá inteligencia", same as "umelá hmota" - generic term for any kind of plastic.
Re:Oldest GUI application that still runs on Windows 11 on Monday October 26, 2026 @03:20PM (#50249482)
Just used xev today (bought new mouse few days ago and it wasn't responding in chrome so I wanted to be sure).
Re:Everything on Monday October 26, 2026 @01:42PM (#50247809)
I created schematic, pcb. Then exported Gerbers as zip and it passed and looks ok at jlcpcb. So it's usable.

I added one issue (allow to change default trace width) and we'll see how it goes. If they actually fix it, with maybe 30 another similar fixes it could be usable.

Re:The HTML-in-Canvas API origin trial on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:03AM (#50205378)
Wouldn't it make more logical sense to add canvas to html elements? I.e. checkbox.getContext("2d").fillRect(...)
Re:Open Source Games on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:04PM (#50200999)
I think it's because when the GitHub repo doesn't have screenshot, he shows randomly generated ai picture, nothing like the actual game.
Re:Open Source Games on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:01PM (#50200972)
1. Rather than showing fake screenshot (e.g. sdl-sopwith) because GitHub repo doesn't have it, you should show nothing.

2. Some game showed tailored screenshot that doesn't look like that game at all, exactly like Google play store. Showing representative screenshot is the most valuable thing you can do, you shouldn't even allow them to choose screenshot, it should be moderator choosing screenshot, not author of game, otherwise it will end up just like Google play store where images are basically useless.

3. Some projects are "engine only" and should be flagged as such.

Re:The Robot I Didn't Expect to Build on Thursday October 22, 2026 @06:09AM (#50193401)
Are these kind of robots even economically viable? I've seen them doing work that would generally pay like $3/h. And human after a week is significantly faster.
Re:The compiler was supposed to end programming too on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @02:51PM (#50185736)
This is similar disruption that terminals brought. Before terminals, programming was done in the computer room, it was social gathering, many programmers were women, people were debugging printouts on the floor, punching cards together. Then terminals came and everybody crawled into their dark solitary offices, staring at green or yellow phosphor screens of their terminals. Women didn't like it and left.

Re:Show HN: High-quality duck audio synthesizer on Sunday October 18, 2026 @12:33PM (#50142590)
Why would I, I wasn't feeding them. Besides it's illegal to chum on trout lakes.
Re:Show HN: High-quality duck audio synthesizer on Saturday October 17, 2026 @02:56PM (#50133935)
I don't know who came up with idea that bread is bad for ducks but it ruined one fishing spot for me. There was a place where people were feeding bread to sucks and fly fishing there was awesome. Carps, chubs, crucians, rudds and roaches, even nases! All on dry flies. Then someone put out sign that bread harms ducks so people stopped feeding them and after a while all fish just disappeared.

Light is hundreds of nanometers, smallest "transistor" cannot be much smaller than wavelength.
