That's the problem with these engines: you never see them coming!
Yes, I've heard of your search engine : Alta-No-Vista.
Anyone know how to find these invisible companies? The article mentioned adjusting your search filters? What search device are they using?
Yes, Google is trying their best to make sideloading apps harder and harder. They also are giving the ability to some apps to only allow to be run if it's verified by Google through their Google Play Store. At the same time, Google keeps losing lawsuits forcing them to open up and allow third party app stores. GrapheneOS also sandboxes Google Play and Google Play Services so you can turn it on and off difference access at your pleasure to prevent God mode and super spy mode, so this mitigates issues even if you use Google stuff. It's a losing battle, but the phone is the battle to fight over
I have run graphene OS on my phone for 3+ years and I don't use Google Play or Google Play Services. You use F-Droid to install Aurora Store and anonymously download real apps. I can use my bank apps and it's quite functional. My wife even doesn't complain about it. Camera is decent, not as good due to the software being non-proprietary, but decent.
Yes, it's a nice catch phrase. Would you say that after a Tren de Aeagua gang member stole all your crap? At least I'm free you say. I don't think we've been free in the US for a long time. My tax bill says I'm in bondage.
By the time you get a court order. The trail has gone cold at least that's what the police said at our HOA meetings. Maybe they're getting paid by big money to say these things but these were not head of police people. Low levels coming to HOA meetings.
You don't have to believe it. It happens to be true, but whatever. I'm not affiliated with flock, but not every issue is black or white.
I agree with you; I don't want a surveillance state either but I understand why people install them in their neighborhoods
I'm not defending flock, and have mixed feelings on the matter due to having personal experience with flock. My neighborhood was being hit by sophisticated robberies one after another. Police could not catch the guys. The police confirmed that it was a Tren de Aruagua operation. They would buy cars mainly BMWs off Facebook marketplace. Go rob a house and sell the car within 24-48 hours. Our neighborhood had cameras, but by manually going through the footage to find what was relevant, it was too late. After working with the police, the HOA decided to install a flock camera set at each entrance. Once it was installed, which was over a year ago, we haven't had a break in since. I know they are tracking my car going in and out but my phone and car also do this. Objectively, my neighborhood is less private but more safe. I think if I had to choose, this would be my choice. I wish I could have a safe and private neighborhood, but this isn't the world we live in.
Thanks for the reply. I've accepted reality, so not really hurting.
I've got a wife, kids, 2 dogs, and more work than I can possibly do. I have plenty to do, but I lean toward Nihilistic thoughts like what is the point of all of this. I'm religious and have faith that my life has meaning, but sometimes it's hard to see it.
Personally, I've found the most effective way to cope is just to accept things as they are and keep myself busy. The world is constantly saying that happiness is right around the corner if you are just smarter, richer, or better looking. Realizing that it's not true and finding contentment is the way to go.
I'm not lonely, but occasionally wish I had some meaningful friendships. Most people who want to be my "friend" just want something from me -- a job, help them move, buy their dumb products, watch their kids, drive them to the airport, whatever else they want to dump on me.
I get that comes with friendships, but people go from zero to super favors in 2.1 seconds these days. Seems too burdensome, so I typically tell people to F off -- easier that way.
My wife will drag me to some social events. I have a hard time relating to any of the guys. The ones I meet are all obsessed with sports and entertainment. Did you watch the game? No, oh...well; did you go skiing last week? No, Oh...I gotta go.
I like a good football game, but the world is burning; I can't pretend it isn't. I'd like to help but don't know how. I just work on building my business to have enough resources to possibly make a slight difference; maybe I'll die without actually doing so, and it would have been better to just distract myself until I die, but my brain doesn't work that way.
Social media is just one big psyops. I liked X until major players started taking over and now it seems like Claude owns X as everyone just posts how Claude Code just vibe coding them 4,000 bitcoins in 24 hours. Quit all social media because it's just distorted.
To be honest, gave up on being friends with anyone about 10 years ago.
