Re:The Graph That Should Be Front-Page News on Tuesday July 14, 2026 @08:31PM (#48914765)
I had to assume there must be ads displayed before the "payoff"- luckily, wouldn't know
Are you asking how the open source ecosystem works in general?

In my experience, if the dev wishes to be compensated in dollars, they also sell a commercial license, cloud services, etc.

Re:Let's Buy Spirit Air on Sunday May 03, 2026 @09:13PM (#48003488)
Sorry, why would I invest in a failed airline with an anonymous collective with no defined leadership?

How could it do anything but fail?

Re:GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing on Monday April 27, 2026 @01:07PM (#47924302)
It's amazing how much I was able to build for $40/mo- something that would have taken a team of 100 twice the time just a few years ago.

Will always be grateful for the greed of trillion dollar corporations that subsidized me.

Re:Changes to GitHub Copilot Individual Plans on Wednesday April 22, 2026 @09:39AM (#47863475)
Exactly, it was just simply much cheaper and perfect for my usecase.

I would honestly be embarrassed to call myself "micro soft" in general.

Unless you're into that kind of thing.

100% agree. Interestingly, the only politicians who talk about removing Citizens United or even just strengthening consumer protections are considered "far-left" in this country.
Re:I built Timeframe, our family e-paper dashboard on Sunday February 22, 2026 @06:29PM (#47116000)
Super cool.

To be fair on your point about only displaying status when they need attention vs displaying everything at once- this is easily achievable with a bit of IF ELSE logic with most cards in Lovelace.

You are hitting on the fundamental difference in political views.

Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control may annoy me sometimes, but this is exactly why I run it.
Re:Microsoft forced me to switch to Linux on Wednesday January 28, 2026 @10:08AM (#46796295)
Yep, Ableton is why I have a Mac Mini on my KVM.

Re:I Wasted 8 Years of My Life in Crypto on Monday December 08, 2025 @01:42PM (#46196021)
The only thing I could think to build on blockchain is electric utility metering / settlements data, but I fear I'd be laughed out of the room at this point
Re:Gemini 2.5 Computer Use model on Tuesday October 07, 2025 @08:29PM (#45510633)
You have nothing to hide given the current, reasonable definition of crime.

What if that changes?

Yeah, but I mean... pizza and beer...
Re:An end to all this prostate trouble? on Sunday April 27, 2025 @05:21AM (#43810553)
The other difference, of course, is that the mechanic can just RTFM

To expatiate with perspicuity:

The Apple ecosystem is a walled garden.
