Didn't want to give out my real name back then. Won't give my name to any mail provider today.

Not planning to dive into another language or framework in 2019
aswell as 'indirectly' identifying information like IP adresses where the technical possibilities exist to link them back to the person.
EVEN if you do not actively link them to the person DSGVO treats them the same way as the directly identifying information
One thing I did when I started my current job, was drawing out a floorplan with the names of people at their desk position, their project (and role if known). Sure it was far from complete on day 1 but it helps me learn and remember the names of everyone.
Why on earth is it OK that this spot could have been taken at all?
The bug and fatal errors should cover most low hanging potential bugs.
Every other type (code smell/code style) should be taken with a grain of salt and configured in such a way that it suits your teams need.
SonarQube is executing static analysis on pushes to each branch.
Currently only used as a guide, not as a gate.
During the first few weeks of using it i found it to be obnoxious, until certain rules were adjusted/removed
Now i find it being more on the helpful side of things
Just because someone gave you a sword doesn't make you a swordmaster. You might kill somebody, but a real master of the tool, maybe even the inventor, is much more capable.
Someone who knows some piece of software knows when, where and under what circumstances it aids the most.
If you asked my wife she would reply: “Meh, in the end you are sitting in front of a screen all day and just typing on your keyboard for 40 years“

The one thing that pushed me to follow this path was a joy for pc gaming, an enthusiastic teacher and income per profession rankings showing that computer science pays quite well.
Only because most people don't have to do this there are still some people that have to do optimzation where possible.
I hope you understand that optimization without profiling is worthless. Once profiling is identifying something like your datastructure as some kind of bottleneck it might be worth a shot investigating that hint.
And these kind of articles are a nice summary of work being done, giving an overview over techniques and small tweaks that you might not have thought about previously.
It is good work by the author and he deserves being recognized for it. Not being dismissed by the bland statement don't waste your time with optimization.
At work I just had to implement a heap just because the heap provided by the standard libs wasn't fitting our problem.
Please don't discourage people creating this kind of content. It matters to far more people than you might have in mind.
“but investors usually know who the entrepreneurs, and major clients and vendors and joint-venture partners“
Not every company/startup is dependent on investors or joint ventures.
Building something and putting it out there. Grow by demand. Get buy offers by your ACTUAL performance, not by some investor money -> PR stunt -> hypetrain -> overestimation.
I don't even mean to attack you. I just get the feeling that the general audience here assumes that an investor is NECESSARY for success
All that for stuff which can be solved with simple 1-10 lines of code. (not these everlasting functional programming chained to eternity lines. real slim and dumb code)
Highly theoretical stuff that let me transition well from university
I'll create a new service that does all of the stuff the old services already did, aswell as this new thing, thus making the old n services obsolete. Everyone will be thankful for the unifying service and hail me for reducing the number of choices from n down to 1.
That's how we ended up with n+1 different services.
I don't comprehend how having a cc but not actually using it leads to being trusted more
