BPC-157 was discovered in the late 80s, not really novel. As opposed to mRNA shots that everyone was taking happily.

Re:Croatian freediver held breath for 29 minutes on Tuesday August 19, 2025 @07:25AM (#44950376)
At least two other Croats broke the same record in the last 11 years (Goran Čolak 23:01 in 2014 and Budimir Šobat 24:37 in 2021). There must be some genetic predisposition.
Nepotism, plain and simple
Re:The British sitcom that swept through the Balkans (2023) on Saturday April 19, 2025 @04:30AM (#43735064)
Yep. In Croatia it has a cult following. Similar to obscure Italian comic “Alan Ford”, and Hungarian-Israeli writer Ephraim Kishon.
Does not look Roman.
The population of EU is roughly 450 million compared to 330 million in the US.
“Extra charges based on income” - does this mean that if you earn more, you pay more for electricity?
Re:GPT-4.5 or GPT-5 being tested on LMSYS? on Monday April 29, 2024 @01:23PM (#40201277)
Still gives incorrect code to the following prompt - the description is correct but not the code. I have yet to find one LLM that gives the correct code. This is the prompt:

“Write C code to calculate the sum of matrix elements below the secondary diagonal.“

Americans call their ICBM “peacekeeper”, while renaming Russian ICBM to “Satan”
Pulse oxymeters exist for at least 30 years. What kind of patent does Masimo hold?

This is interesting? Can you share more information on that?

So the rumors that she has strong ties with the CIA are not unfounded?
If there wasn’t COVID pandemic, and mRNA vaccines did not become widely used for another decade, ms Kariko would never get the deserved recognition.
As someone living in the EU, I can say your comparison between Lysenkoism and EU grants is fantastic.
You are sharing current data from this week. The annual average carbon intensity for EU27 is 296 gCO2eq/kWh. The annual average for Croatia is 246 gCO2eq/kWh, and as I wrote, it is below EU average.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1291750/carbon-intensity....

Electricity production in Croatia is already much “greener” than the EU average: approximately 30% is generated from fossil fuels (10% coal, 20% gas). Remaining is mostly hydro, with significant amount produced from wind and 15-20 % is nuclear.
Sad to see another great guy go away too early :(
Re:How Instagram scaled to 14 million users with only 3 engineers on Saturday September 16, 2023 @03:56AM (#37532875)
No, what is the consequence, how has quality of Twitter diminished? As a “normal” user I can not observe any degradation of Twitter service.

Yeah, it is profitable for the US that Ukraine people keep getting slaughtered.
So to save environment we should ban pets
What percentage od the total workforce can actually work from home? Construction workers, doctors, nurses, teachers, shop salespersons, waiters… I expect these jobs are the majority od the workforce? Not everyone is in IT so that it is easy to transfer to WFH
Re:Remains found in China may belong to third human lineage on Wednesday August 09, 2023 @08:30AM (#37061653)
I have lived in a country under communist rule until it fell apart in 1990.

If you haven’t experienced communism first hand, you have no idea how bad it is, even the watered-down communism of 80s.

Re:How to Pick a Mate (1946) on Monday July 10, 2023 @11:50AM (#36668153)
Interestingly that today we laugh at the fact that there is a book helping people how to make one of the most important decisions in their life. It is normal to have books about how to cook food, how to travel, how to exercise. But God forbid there should be a book on how to select a good marriage partner.
