I didn't like this either, seems kind of slimy.
Re:How Spotify ran a large Google Dataflow job for Wrapped 2019 on Tuesday February 18, 2020 @05:14PM (#22360960)
Was a neat little feature, too bad the share functionality didn't actually work.
nothing to contribute on my own, but this may interest you: https://www.indiehackers.com/businesses - probably something worth reading as it goes in to ideas and their implementation. interesting to note that there is a weather app chrome extension there that seems to make 2.5k per month.
Re:Ask HN: What job did you leave IT for? on Tuesday May 30, 2017 @09:26AM (#14445161)

Re:How does a blind computer programmer do programming? on Thursday April 16, 2015 @03:50PM (#9390367)
what isn't mentioned is the speed at which the editor reads out code. i remember reading a similar story where the blind programmer recorded some code being read out, and it was extremely impressive to say the least. i could not understand a single word. i thought the recording was broken.
Re:Show HN: Slack Meets GitHub Issues on Wednesday March 04, 2015 @10:32AM (#9144794)
I spent a lot of time on your site & the medium article trying to understand what it does. I wouldn't have done this if I didn't read your HN post, so I really did try and understand it. Right now it seems like this would create more work for me than reduce it. Just my thoughts. Good luck though!
where does one obtain a genome study for themselves?
Re:Joker – Torrents to streamable video on Tuesday October 28, 2014 @10:58AM (#8521266)

Re:Joker – Torrents to streamable video on Tuesday October 28, 2014 @10:46AM (#8521189)

Re:Show HN: Open-Source, Free, Agile Project Management Tool on Wednesday October 01, 2014 @03:31PM (#8397090)
yeah, noticed that scrolling down was very sluggish.
Re:Show HN: Find the best area to stay in any city on Monday September 08, 2014 @11:32AM (#8285319)
neat idea. i'm going to chicago in a few weeks and took the recommendation from your app.

the interface is clean and easy to use, the idea itself i also quite clever, however, i don't know if it will be survive/used on its own. it seems as if it's an accessory service, something that compliments a primary service. maybe if i book a trip to visit a city, using another service, say a travel service, this would automatically serve me your app's recommendation.

either way, good luck, seems like a cool idea.

Re:Show HN: Linkwok – Picking up where search engines left off on Sunday September 07, 2014 @11:57AM (#8281510)
i'm not too sure what service it's suppose to provide.
Re:Show HN: A free invoice generator on Saturday September 06, 2014 @11:33AM (#8278562)
interesting, thanks for the info. i just finished up a similar project and had tough time with jspdf, ended up using http://pdfmake.org/#/.
Re:Show HN: A free invoice generator on Saturday September 06, 2014 @11:21AM (#8278532)
how are you generating the pdf? client side as well?
Re:Poll: Do you meditate? on Sunday March 24, 2013 @03:03PM (#5433096)
i've been trying to fit this into my schedule as much as possible as well (much like the rest of us).

what really set me off into making it a daily habit was the following washington post article.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43006-2005Jan...

""What we found is that the longtime practitioners showed brain activation on a scale we have never seen before," said Richard Davidson, a neuroscientist at the university's new $10 million W.M. Keck Laboratory for Functional Brain Imaging and Behavior. "Their mental practice is having an effect on the brain in the same way golf or tennis practice will enhance performance." It demonstrates, he said, that the brain is capable of being trained and physically modified in ways few people can imagine."

Re:Google's Nexus 4 smartphone sells out in the US in 50 minutes on Wednesday November 14, 2012 @11:17AM (#4783951)
Same here- I used the Page Monitor chrome add on, worked really well, ended up picking up a 8GB while the site was being hammered yesterday.
Re:Show HN: Userfox (YC S11) — Better Welcome Emails on Monday October 29, 2012 @09:19PM (#4715552)
what are some comparative products, and how does userfox set itself apart?
Re:Jetstrap for Bootstrap on Tuesday September 25, 2012 @02:15PM (#4571800)
Make sure you've created a page to drag the components on to. That was the problem I was running into anyway.
Re:Abusing Emoji in iOS and Your Mac on Thursday September 20, 2012 @04:38PM (#4550553)
I guess he read the reddit post 2 days ago.
Re:Ask HN: suggested sweet laptops for running Ubuntu? on Saturday September 01, 2012 @01:11PM (#4464342)
thinkpad's work well.
Re:Your startup is not a startup, it’s just a website. on Tuesday August 21, 2012 @10:18PM (#4415756)
they are both right. i've been using myfitnesspal for quite some time now, and remember reading that it was indeed a very small team (of just 2). now time has passed and they have obviously expanded. but they were extremely successful even at the beginning. i can't find the link right now but i'm certain that if you check out their blog, near the beginning, you will find something that resembles the 2man team story.
the irony.
I just wanted to know how it works. I don't think I have the courage to meet completely random people though.

Oh, and there's a whole bunch of periods missing (sorry).

hey. good job. i can definitely see myself using this. i'm having a bit of trouble reading some of the content though (using ubuntu/chrome) font/font-size/colorschemes can be better. maybe refine the interface a bit, but good start!
Re:Better Looking Hacker News on Tuesday April 17, 2012 @07:13PM (#3855532)
i'm sure a lot of people here can do a better job designing it. but is that really the point?
Re:The Hacker is Watching on Sunday January 22, 2012 @05:17PM (#3497925)
the good old days.
I still don't understand why people recommended them in the first place.
Re:Show HN: My midweek project - karmurl on Thursday September 15, 2011 @10:02AM (#3000358)
Wonderful little app. I would actually spend some time going through it if I wasn't at work. Speaking of which, is there any process put in place to filter the sites people input?
