I actually thought of writing a whole blog post just on this- That is such terrible survival advice, OF COURSE in an emergency you can eat stuff from the refrigerator even after 2 hours.
It is also really dumb to do that if there isn't an emergency
lots of us have solar cells these days, so energy isn't going to be such a limiting factor
I'm actually not sure I agree- I think giving a very specific response to your question, even with a 10% chance there is a mistake, along with giving you sources, is pretty helpful: It gives you a good starting hypothesis that you can then validate.
llms tend to make different types of errors than humans, so with this process each can guard against the errors of the other.
I would be overjoyed if, 5 years from now, the entity in charge is still interested in talking to a human
Agree 100%
The value of money, and the ability for average people to have influence on future events, ultimately is tied to the fact that the labor of an average person has inherent value.
Once that is no longer true, all bets are off: All promises of compensation become meaningless, and it's easy for those in power to rationalize to themselves why they no longer are beholden to their earlier promises. They will say to themselves "The situation ended up more nuanced than we expected"
(Which is exactly what Google said in February 2025 when they reneged on their pledge not to use their AI for military applications)
makes you wonder if they have intel on an upcoming model drop by the frontiers
You're asking if the bitter lesson is true and the neural nets will become so general purpose, they'll eat the source control as well? Yes, but that won't happen for another couple months.
Don't you all understand that existing laws on the books are already adequate for dealing with the threat posed by AI

fwiw unlike the other person, I use it for hours with my macbook and have no complaints. you will like it if regular vr makes you feel claustrophobic/isolated, since you still see the real world while using it. I don't understand the obsession with extreme text crispness many people have.
"Surely nobody could be so incompetent."
Narrator: "They had the ability to be that incompetent."
not only that, but I was so happy with their GLM 4.8 that they got rid of yesterday :(
yeah lots of kidney shaming in these comments
I'm guessing a new $1000/month tier
I'm guessing a new $1000/month plan if you want access to this
I have no idea if diplomacy and/or war will end, I just hope we humans get to hang around a few more years
An LLM just solved 10 top tier math problems this week. It seems very likely that in 6 months they will solve 100 top tier math problems, maybe 1 millenium math problem, maybe 10 top tier physics problems, etc.
It's only going to get crazier.
Are you saying it is marketing and their AI broke into hugging face, or are you saying it is marketing and their AI didn't brake into hugging face?
Those are two very different things
Are you saying it is marketing and their AI broke into hugging face, or are you saying it is marketing and their AI didn't brake into hugging face?
Those are two very different things
they're flailing is what they're doing
the truth is that doom is a high likelihood
sorry we don't lie about that
Don't know about the situation for this particular example, but keep in mind this type of analysis will necessarily involve extremely archaic dialects of all the involved languages
The comments here do seem to ignore that rocketmoney exists, and that many people use it
It seems like every three years or so I need to use a tool with a plaid link feature, I try it, it gives some internal plaid error, then I find some other way of solving the issue.
it's hard to guess who the winners will be in this product category, I would guess openai or microsoft are more likely than google
I hope you're right, it would be better for the world if you are
but that's probably not what's going to happen
every large corporation is going to come out with a hardware device in the next 12 months where you don't directly use applications, where the AI acts as an intermediary
openai, anthropic, meta, google, all of them
even you will want one of these devices, probably (not saying this is a positive development in the world)
we mostly know how to make it understand what we want. we don't know how to make it care about what we want, except via reinforcement learning. there are good reasons to believe rl won't work for this once the ai reaches a certain levels of capability.
> At no point in the next 30 years will there not be an active community of people who "loathe" AI and work to obstruct it.
Then I have good news for you: If humanity goes extinct in the next few years because of unaligned superintelligence, there actually will no longer "be an active community of people who loathe AI and work to obstruct it"
