Re:Formlabs Studio 1 $699 Resin Printer

This printer at least comes with the "Open Material Mode (included)" that lets you print with 3rd party resins. I'm sure the workflow won't be quite as nice as with the Formlabs native resin. That is unless you can somehow refill the old jugs or buy empty ones. Before long I imagine 3rd party compatible containers will show up.

Agreed, unless you need to print intricate 3D figurines or high resolution engineering widgets, get a FDM printer and avoid the mess of SLA.

You can wash manually with some isopropyl alcohol in a wash basin and then cure in the sun. It will be a pain to do, and somewhat inconsistent, but its possible. You can also get a cheaper wash and cure station for other 3D printers that would likely work well enough with some tuning.

Should we also stop adding iodide to salt or fortifying white bread? I see your point, but society has benefited as a whole by forcing some of these substances onto populations. I think it's fairly evident that many humans in the US are either unable or unwilling to really care about their health.

Unfortunately its not a mirror. Some extensions have licensing issues that prevent them from being on open-vsx. For example PlatformIO. I ran into this issue earlier this week when trying to set up Windsurf which uses open-vsx.

8uA is still large compared to some other options. I work on medical implants that average 15uA while actively sensing biological signals 24hr/day. This includes the analog front end hardware to condition the signals as well. 8uA of deep sleep current would be a non starter.

Re:Ask HN: What ever happened to the “coming wave” of delivery drones?
on Monday July 17, 2023 @07:34PM (#36765611)
I live in a Durham, NC and there is a small radius where a company called Flytrex does drone food delivery. We use it every couple weeks since they have almost no fees unlike Uber Eats. From what I understand they place the order, drive a car to pick up your food, drive back to the launch pad, then load and send the drone. It then drops the food using a long cable that leaves behind a reusable bag in your front lawn. It’s surprisingly accurate since it has about a 15ft diameter circle to hit in my front yard to avoid trees and the house.
The one downside is the weight limit and weather. If you go over something like 8 pounds then the drone will fly what it can and someone will follow begging in a car with the remainder. Bad weather means car delivery.

Oh, so this isn’t full in circuit debugging like ESP-PROG would enable, correct? These parts just have built in USB-Serial for programming and printing to the terminal without an external IC.
Edit: Never mind, it does appear to allow full in circuit debugging. I’ll have to do some more research.
