There could be various other reasons as well. For instance, males tend to be older in a family than females, so the 35-year cut-off may be too early to consider. Additionally, there is the desirability factor, where the most successful or desirable males may have multiple 'families,' or at least children from multiple women

"As a result, company B gets the same results 2 times cheaper" - that's just an assumption. If I turn it around, it sounds - "people on average in high COL area do the same work two times faster than in low COL area".

that is one way of looking at it, and it's a perfectionist view.
I'm sure that everybody knows that one simply can't filter out 100% of underage access, but there are things that CAN be done to reduce it.

It seems to me that you indeed realised that majority of the people (in your bubble) have an opposite opinion on this issue than you have, but somehow you still think that they are wrong, and you listed why they are wrong (except the few that you can sympathise with, like parents, caregivers and so on)
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy office work as well, but I realise that I'm not the youngest anymore and the world is changing, and it's not driven by my generation any more. It sucks to be a minority.

I'm creating yet another recipe hosting website https://faluszelen.hu (just in Hungarian).
I'm thinking of it as a replacement for my physical recipe notebook. Loads insanely fast, have no tracking, ads, story or anything distracting, just the ingredients, steps and a way to easily edit it on the fly.
Also it's free to host, except for the domain name fee.

Isn't bookmarking == hoarding? Somehow I have the feeling that sure, maybe one day that niche bookmarked piece of information will be useful (or fun), but it gets buried by many other useless bits, so there's a chance it'll never be actually used.
So no thanks, I don't want to pay to rent an extra organisational unit, and feed my obsession.
Re:Ask HN: Eating and coocking is so inneficient, better way?
on Thursday January 27, 2022 @05:07AM (#30098488)
For me cooking rarelly equates to preparing nutritients for my body. If that's the case for you, then it's nothing else than a chore. It can be done by you or by paying someone else to do it. And since aquiring a passable cooking skill is quite some effort (compared to for example ironing) cooked food is more expensive than for example hiring someone for ironing.
My advice would be to try to find additional benefits in cooking, like the social aspect, or its meditative nature, or self expression in it, or whatever other than preparing stuff to eat. Oh, and pay for cooking classes, they are worth more than it seems.

If your goal is to just put something out there, and not worry much about anything or learning fancy stuff, I suggest Hugo+Github+Netlify.
Easy to set up, tons of blog posts out there, and all the goodies (CI, SSL, basic theme) come free.
Mine is created like that as well: dorwi.com

Oh no, never link to tickets or docs that are not version controled in the same repo. Usually code tends to outlive the tools for organisation.

Ha, I love these discussions about what is a "good" way of travelling. In the end it's all about your personal values; if you prefer to be one with the nature you'll be labeled as a "deep traveler", if you are playing the social game you'll be labeled as a "shallow traveller", or you can do both and get a label accordingly. Long story short, the way you travel is proxy for who you are.

Obviously personal information is a commodity, which we can trade for comfort, and it doesn't have much value since most of the people are happily giving it up... so I'm not too surprised about this

It's a nice reminder that being technically proficient is not enough. In the end this is a team game, reminding everyone how shitty job they do is not going to help you estabilishing your place there.
Also, acting as a leader, when there is no one to lead is pointless. As someone said before me, earn their respect first, and then try to change them.

There are many things that you cannot experience anymore as an adult. Let's just say that phisically they are decades behind you compared to the time when you were exploring.
