Re:Where's Firefox Going Next? on Wednesday July 16, 2025 @02:37PM (#44585481)
Never experienced those with Firefox on Windows, macOS or a myriad of Linux distros along the years. Not using Ubuntu anymore, but when I did, I did not use flatpaks. That might be the origin of your issues.
Re:Gentoo Linux Goes Binary on Friday December 29, 2023 @09:15AM (#38805087)
Contrary to popular belief, Java is amongst the most efficient languages regarding power consumption.
I would not only expect, but demand that kind of writting on The Register.
Re:How to politely decline a take-home test task on Thursday March 16, 2023 @12:52PM (#35184637)
Just say "No, thank you" and move on to the next opportunity.
The Asahi Linux installer sets everything up and you end up with dual boot. Check this post: https://asahilinux.org/2022/03/asahi-linux-alpha-release/
Have any of you actually tried Asahi? Touchpad works flawlessly. A rust based, open source GPU driver is working since December and swiftly advances daily to a fully stable state.
Re:FTX’s balance sheet was bad on Monday November 14, 2022 @03:40PM (#33600686)
I agree, i wouldn't be surprised either if they were just morons believing they were geniuses
Re:FTX’s balance sheet was bad on Monday November 14, 2022 @03:05PM (#33600157)
Yeah, exactly. I reckon they didn't lose it. That money was sent somewhere else and they "covered" it up with their own issued/invented tokens at ridiculous real cost. It would seem plausible to think that they used Alameda as a proxy for the real destination of all that money.
Re:I've been abusing HTTP Status Codes in my APIs for years on Wednesday July 13, 2022 @12:28PM (#32084935)
Why people keep trying to reinterpret HTTP? Honestly it's even worrying that so many of these kind of articles pop up lately.
Re:Vite 3.0 on Wednesday July 13, 2022 @12:17PM (#32084762)
Care to explain why you do believe it is "an asinine interpretation"?
Re:Ask HN: Why does nobody support h.265/HEVC anymore? on Monday May 09, 2022 @05:49PM (#31320246)
Software patents should not be a thing... but the US neoliberalism fucked it up for everyone.
Re:Actor system for the JVM developed by Electronic Arts on Thursday April 28, 2022 @02:37PM (#31196442)
It implements the actor model paradigm. Check this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7erJ1DV_Tlo
Spaniard here. I reckon you are the one that needs to learn how to read a map.
I remember! The times where RAD was the next big thing.

I only used it after it was "remixed" into JBuilder. I actually used Visual Age from IBM, which I reckon was similar to Visual Cafe.

Re:Okta’s Investigation of the January 2022 Compromise on Wednesday March 23, 2022 @04:57AM (#30776443)
LAPSUS$ has stated that Okta had sensitive info in Slack, including AWS Keys (they also confirmed they had access to 8.6K channels).
If that was the intended use of !important, I reckon that info would have been an awesome addition to the CSS spec.
Re:Firefox lost 50M users since 2019 on Saturday July 31, 2021 @09:16AM (#28017851)
I use Firefox since it was Phoenix and I will keep using and recommending it. Chrome was great when it came out, now is Google's trojan horse that everyone is happily embracing. It's one of the clearest Embrace, Extend, Extinguish strategies ever pulled off.
Spanish here, can confirm.
Open your eyes...
I'm curious: if by chance you had some instance online, was it hit by the article's "attack"?
At least in EU, discriminating based on political beliefs goes against art. 21 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Pardon my ignorance but, is that allowed in the US?
To be able to install anything that uses the new contact tracing stuff, you must own a phone that is based either on iOS or Android. I'm honestly curious: if you are using any of those already, is that not even worse than this "garbage" you talk about?
Certificate is perfectly valid for me. I'm not the OP but curious: what error are you getting?
Sorry if I sound rude, but my conclusion from your article is that the problem here is you don't want to assume the costs and resources needed to build a backend and blame Apple.

Please read the HTML/Web Storage standard [0] and try to find where Apple is not honouring it.

Even before this move by Apple, you should already had to consider localStorage to be subjected to being wiped by actors not in your control.

On top of that, localStorage privacy concerns were also in the standard. See section 11.4.1 [1].

Nevertheless, I reckon Webkit should expose the option to the user.

I feel your pain, I really do, but I can't see how Apple made PWAs impossible.

Re:In praise of S3 on Tuesday March 24, 2020 @11:51AM (#22675588)
Could you please elaborate? Storage price is fixed. Other costs are requests and transfers and those depend on your usage.
Re:WatchGuard to Acquire Panda Security on Monday March 09, 2020 @06:38AM (#22524312)
I totally agree: loads of talent and really good technology. Hope the M&A process goes smoothly!
Re:Mondragon Corporation on Monday February 10, 2020 @11:24AM (#22290500)
That link describes how a MCC worker was taken into custody, being charged with some degree of terrorism collaboration. He got out on bail 2 days after. [1]

Caja Laboral was not involved and they even fired that worker sortly after his detention (next day). [2]

I fail to see how that link proofs that the "Mondragon Group already had some historry of financing terrorism".

Re:Mondragon Corporation on Monday February 10, 2020 @11:15AM (#22290384)
Following the same reasoning, MCC "financing terrorism" is a far bigger stretch.

Hi from a Lagun Aro contractor! Were you as surprised as I was to see this in top of HN?
