It makes good financial sense for insurers to push the insured to take preventative measures.

An insurer should provide incentive to bring a building up to code to avoid a costly fire. The option to simply raise prices accounting for the fire leaves out the business of those who cannot afford it: the people leaving in a building that's not up to code.

I suspect rdtsc meant free as in freedom. There are several companies successfully founded and running on free software. An example I saw recently is the French telecommunications provider Free. Much of the software running on their set-top-boxes is licensed under GPL and they provide the source code as required by the licence. They have dealt serious damage to more traditionally minded companies.

Invasion of privacy is not a requisite for company viability.

Assuming not all the machines are compromised, the longer the path, the less likely any agent is to follow it along in its entirety. Even if the whole path were compromised (but by different antagonistic parties) this would still hold.

Stephan Boyer teaches about them in a peculiarly pragmatic way. Haskell programmers often abstract application-specific computations into monads and use them as a sort of interface—a functional API.

That echoes statements that seek to prove homosexuality is unnatural since only humans do it—which is demonstrably false.

How often would gratuitous affirmations like that arrive in your schooling? Did they ever stop?

In my experience the French educational system is very formal and structured; also strongly focused on the chronology of the ideas it teaches.

I feel it pushes many inaccurate ideas to later (while staying on topic) challenge them formally. Would you agree with this?
