I would support a phone ban during work hours.
Inference prices are going only down. It could be that some top subscription costs more in a decade, but I fully believe a full array of competent models will be extremely cheap.
On the contrary, north is exactly the right place to build them. There's plenty of space with low ecological value, more electricity generation (wind), cooling needs are reduced, and the heat can be used (and is used) for district heating.
Now one can argue whether we should build that many data centers or not. But when one is built, the north is a good choice.
This wasn't some ancient oak forest, but rather a pine tree plantation that would be cut for timber in a timely rotation of cutting and planting anyway. If you want to build anything in Finland, you first cut the trees. Because trees grow everywhere, and if you leave a place unattended for a little while, it gets reclaimed by the forest.
So no, cutting the trees isn't the topic. The topic is the skipped bureaucracy. Outcome would be the same, but of course you need to follow the steps first.
It's not the missing assessment itself that makes people frown, it's mainly the skipped bureaucracy by the company, and secondarily the poor enforcement of said bureaucracy by the local administration.
A small minority might be concerned about the trees in the area, but it's not a big topic. Main topics are, again, the bureaucracy and the center's electricity consumption with its effect on consumer electricity bills.
Why do you even write this kind of comment when it's so easily proven to be false? I don't think it's acceptable at all to just claim things you somehow haphazardly assume to be true.
This isn't some obscure detail, but generic information about the ongoing war that most armchair generals know for sure.
20-30 years ago was 1996-2006. Granted, I was younger back then, but in my mind this post Cold War, young Internet, pre-smartphone age was the best of times. Since then life got easier in some ways, harder in others. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about today, but how do you think we're so much better off now?
There indeed are trees everywhere, forest cover in Finland is 74%. If the land is not in use, it will turn into forest naturally, though such land is usually planted on purpose to speed up the growth. And then it will be logged, and regrown.
I assume locals likely won't be angry about the loss of the trees, but they will be angry about a megacorp skirting the regulations, as Finland is a very rules and regulations oriented country.
I'm of course against illegal logging, but in this case there was very little loss of the environment. These planted pine forests in the Nordics are not biodiversity hubs in any stretch of imagination. They do support life, but not much. You will generally not meet any animal there, except some birds perhaps if you're lucky. It would be another matter altogether if this was an old growth forest. This one is more like just a procedural blunder.
Maybe some of the idea comes from Europe, where contractors can earn maybe twice the income of a similar regular employee?
I have a sensor in every room. They are used to control radiator thermostats. The thermostats have their own temperature sensors of course, but can't be relied on because 1) it's literally next to the radiator, and 2) are often covered by curtains, so they're inside a hot air pocket.
HA uses the external sensor readings to set an external measured value for the radiator thermostats.
I have one Bluetooth sensor, but its range is not enough to cover the distance to the router. Zigbee carries a lot further in my experience. I need 15-20 meters with two heavy walls in between.
My Zigbee sensors are these Aqaras, and the initial pairing has worked just fine.
Indeed. Online games, Board Game Arena especially, are great for the ease of the rules enforcement and getting together with remote friends. But if given an option, I would always choose the in-person physical version. I'm spending enough hours in front of a monitor already.
The article linked by JKCalhoun lists

Elk $17,483
Moose $30,760
It is, however, correct to attribute all sabotage and random failures to Russia until proven otherwise. No matter if we like it or not, Russia has decided to be hostile, and is actively committing sabotage.
It would be foolish to still just wring our hands about it. We have to name the enemy, Russia, and both support Ukraine's fight and do our own active hybrid actions on Russian soil. And yes, military buildup is required.
And to be clear, this will not end anytime soon. The war in Ukraine is but one aspect of Russia's imperial ambitions. It's fully possible we will not see friendly relations again in our lifetimes.
It would be helpful if you'd proactively tell you're a Putinist so we'd all save time from interacting with you.
Most Europeans think we aren't doing nearly enough to support Ukraine, and here you are counting your pennies. Wow. One of the worst things I've read all week.
I wholeheartedly support actually finally starting proper support instead of this slow trickle.
Source is RUSI:
https://www.rusi.org/explore-our-research/publications/comme...> over 200 incidents of suspected Russian hybrid warfare in Europe between 2014 and 2024 [..] Most incidents (86%) have taken place since early 2022
I hope you're aware of how you're framing this as European choice of entering the war, instead of placing the fault on Russia. Straight from the Russian playbook of always blaming others.
Don't be naive. They definitely are Russian backed acts. Not all sabotage is done directly by their state security apparatus, funding useful idiots has been the Russian modus operandi since the Soviet times.
There are over 200 acts of sabotage in Europe linked/suspected to Russia. There's plenty to go around for everyone, and somehow people are still hesitant to say we're in active hybrid war.
I don't think it's good for them. The more people see Russia as the enemy, the stronger the support for Ukraine.
There are over 200 incidents of suspected Russian sabotage in Europe in recent years. [1] They continuously drum up the EU as the enemy. I think it's prudent to take them at their own word, and accept we're at active hybrid war with them.
We should assume by default now that every single act of sabotage is linked to Russia, before any investigation even. Then if evidence points elsewhere, we can update the suspect for that single event.

Indeed. My humble opinion is that sarcasm doesn't belong on discussion boards, even with the silly /s marker. Eventually it poisons everything it touches.
I handle the context problem by splitting the details to dozens of small md files. Agents.md acts as a router that directs the llm to correct documentation file/folder according to the task at hand.
This documentation is its own git repo, and the agents.md file has an explicit instruction to update the docs when it has learned something general that can be useful in future sessions. I then occasionally review and prune those docs.
> I have used my Gmail address for countless services and it’s almost part of my official identity.
This has been a topic for over a decade now, I think. People have been recommending getting your own domain. Best time to do that was ten years ago, and the second best is today.
Yes, this is why I avoid using my Google account for anything really. Risks from banning are not proportional. It's better to always use separate email logins, and when possible, non-Google services.
The article isn't, but many accounts now dish out anti-EU narratives in any topic remotely touching Europe.
A lot of it for sure is either direct propaganda, or internalized anti-EU sentiments after reading too much of that propaganda on other platforms.
Weak Europe is what both Russia and the current US administration are explicitly promoting, so it's not surprising to see an uptick of those comments. Most countries now have pro-Russian alt-right/left parties, and their supporters are very exposed to foreign state sponsored messaging.
What. Strict branch naming like feature/, bugfix/, chore/, release/ has been the standard for probably 10 years now in all projects I've been in, often enforced by auto-rejecting pushes that don't comply.
? This isn't about new vs. old reddit, but rather that there's now no access without login.
