Why are they trying to do everything at once? From what I am reading they plan to - design and produce phone hardware - create and maintain an android fork - create a chat and VoIP app - run
Re:The art of defusing a second world war bomb on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @01:53AM (#49988818)
As a German living in Berlin it's still pretty normal that once in a while WW2 bombs are found during construction. Heavy bombs that didn't explode probably penetrated the ground quite a bit so when rebuilding it was probably just easier to just leave them there. That's just a guess.

There are also still bombs and grenades in the rivers. There are some magnet fishing YouTube channels where you can occasionally see them pulling up stuff like that.

There are several Coauthored by Claude commits. So at least partially LLM generated.

FireChat was released in 2014.

I have a vague memory of sitting in school in like 2006 or 2007 and sending messages via Bluetooth to a classmate on my Sony Ericsson K750i.

Calling this "hijacking the Amazon app" is hyperbolic in my opinion. They replaced the shortcut in the app drawer. To me this looks like normal scummy OEM behaviour, like pre-installing spyware, "anti-" malware, adware etc. which sadly pretty much every mobile/computer manufacturer does.

Replacing the OS is one of the first things I do with every laptop, PC and mobile device to get rid of (most) crap that was installed without my consent.

Nice blogpost. Was an really interesting read. Would be interesting to read about the experience of getting the patch accepted and merged.

One thing I noticed: The last footnote is missing.

They sell existing hardware with their firmware. You're right, the bangle.js 2 is a SMA Q3 (https://hackaday.io/project/175577-hackable-nrf52840-smart-w...)
Re:Presentation Slides with Markdown on Monday April 28, 2025 @06:29AM (#43819653)
I usw pandoc to create slides from markdown: ```pandoc -t beamer slides.md -o slides.pdf``` And if you prefer HTML+JS slides, pandoc can do that too: https://pandoc.org/MANUAL.html#slide-shows
I hope the CD player is connected to the cloud so he can get important security updates for his CDs. Then there might be a way to add some personalized product recommendations between tracks...

Simple: nobody entered the height of your condo building into OSM yet. You can change that. Be the change you want to see in the world!

I was once asked whether I was carrying large sums of cash at Oslo airport. I think the only reason they asked me was because there was literally nobody else in sight. I was in my early twenties and broke af. I was wearing jeans with huge holes in them and shoes that were more duct tape than shoe. I showed them all the cash I had on me: 3 coins. 2 of them had holes in them.

I think most people don't participate for the competition. I did it several times to increase my coding skills, have fun or get more practice in a new programming language.

Thanks for pointing that out. I would love to have regular automatic BP measurements but not with closed source software that demands an internet connection.
I hope the mapmen will cover this.

The prize is for an idea how to do it. Actually doing it will cost billions. You could enter your plan into the contest :)

Zellij is a terminal workspace or terminal multiplexer not a terminal. It should be compared against tmux, screen and similar tools.
