so instead of a facebook account (free) they now need to hire someone to develop a solution (with built-in instant messaging), host, optimize for search, maintain the website...

heaps of small venues would see their online presence deleted overnight. the product fits a use case even if you don't like it.

Re:It's still OK to enjoy programming on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @11:13AM (#50167639)
>It's much easier for people to silo themselves off and fix any problem that appears

i fail to realize how is this a negative thing

>more than being useful, people want to feel special. They got this perception the LLM makes them less special, and that’s what killed their interest in the practice.

pretty much this, i realized it in the comments section of this video

if people find a feature for the physically disabled useful they'll use it. should manufacturers ship disabled-only versions with those features enabled and disable them in the other devices?

Re:AI is a tool and using it well takes skill on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @04:11PM (#50077947)
some people, most people i'd say, don't really enjoy working with computers. if you ask anyone on the street they know chatgpt of course but ask them what an agent is and they will have no idea.
are you being intentionally obtuse? yes, those were all contemporary things. some classes had access to some activities, and some other classes had to settle (to put it lightly) with some other ones. the aristocracy didn't live in the same conditions as factory workers.
scarcity fosters creativity too
that sounds well intended but naive and unrealistic
that so-called self-sufficiency is a material choice allowed by the complimentary paradigm. i am very pleased with not having to grow my own food to eat. we ran to the cities to escape from that.
that's so short-sighted and demonstrably wrong lol
Re:Meta and Microsoft Limit Employee Use of Claude AI Tools on Thursday October 08, 2026 @12:13PM (#50007669)
>Windows is still terrible

that's just an opinion. m(b?)illions of persons use it on a daily basis with little to no issues.

i use windows by choice and would personally pay for copilot if the quotas didn't dry up so fast for the cheapest plan. i think the harness is the best for writing and reviewing code.
