I'm in a similar boat as you - from what I can tell, best bet is to buy from Chrono24, used, from a dealer with good reviews, and pay ~250 additional for chrono24's certification service in which they guarantee its authenticity.
I've been waiting for years to pull the trigger on the Speedmaster, and recently decided on the white dial one. I say decided, but mean that's the one I want but can't bring myself to click purchase :]
“running your texts through the genericizer” - what a lovely way to put it!
Do you do this manually? Or some abstraction above that? skills, some light orchestration, etc?
Will a full complete org mode ever come to vim? A man can hope…
Edit: I wonder if the vim community can contribute to a feature bounty like this? Hmm
As an engineer, this and the principle of least action occupy my wall of “things I think are super deep and maybe mysterious* and interesting and I wish I understood deeply”
* interpret generously
Thinking of doing the same! Which kit did you order? I see a FNG, FNG+ Bundle, and "Learn lockpicking bundle". 3rd one seems the most likely candidate. Any tips you can share? Thanks!
startup idea? upload an obsidian vault, receive a printed, bound notebook(s)
Do you have any references you can share for sexual abuse and/or cults associated with rationalists?
Sorry - what do you mean by yud-cult? Searching google didn’t help me (as far as I can tell) - I view LW from an outside perspective as well, but don’t understand the reference
Purely empirical observation, in my own life, make no claim as to humanity/society/etc.:
It's interesting how often fermi estimation problems are used as proxy's for "intelligence". Something like: 'let's assess how well "they can think" - how many golf balls fit in a baseball stadium?' etc.
Often, doing well in these kinds of problems can more than makeup for a lack of specific knowledge in something someone is interested in assessing!
I 100% agree - I’m only saying hegseth didn’t run an unsecured line into his office himself no?
Why didn’t some automated system say “installation of unsecured lines in this building is not possible” or similar
To be course : I didn’t think something so obviously wrong would have been allowed and enabled by several people who made this possible - removing absolutely no accountability from the person who asked for this to happen
Just to clarify - I am not presuming to shift blame - I am asking about a failure mode here- absolutely hold hegseth accountable (he should have never been in this position and is completely unqualified in my opinion).
I am also not suggesting we hold an IT person accountable-
I am only saying there should be rules/systems in place so that if someone else asks for something obviously wrong like this again, there’s a clear stop gap to say “that’s not possible”
Maybe there already is one(several) - if so, then of course the chain of accountability continues to ensnare…
Not downplaying or defending - but I don’t understand the failure mode here - presumably hegseth had to ask someone in pentagon IT to set this up? Submit a form etc. sure he asked for something illegal* but someone actually following a set of rules had to enable this, no?
(* or against protocols, etc)
Best advice I ever received is: You have to parent the kid you have - not the kid you want
Thanks for this! I read this paper/derivation/justification once in grad school but I can’t now find the reference - do you have one?
Yes - in fact I recently uninstalled pyenv and poetry, switched to uv, used it to install python and poetry (for work projects)
The one thing I wish was better developed is persistence and streaming - they give sample code to stream, but it’s essentially a complete implementation of streaming that every client needs to implement.
Thanks that makes sense - just feels weird to go from years of “be very careful rewriting history with git, especially at work” to jj rewriting everything all the time - can’t shake the feeling there’s a clash somewhere waiting to happen
How does this work with a shared remote branch? I know in git when you alter your history you can do a `git push --force-with-lease` as a safer `--force` - do you have to do this frequently with jj "rewriting history" (from a git perspective)?
This is great thank you!
Does any one know of something similar in python? I want to share with my team something similar to this that goes into (almost) everything (at least conceptually) needed to efficiently serve an LLM.
It doesn’t actually need to be performant mind you (it’s in python) I just need something “conceptually complete” while being more “tutorial style” and concise than vLLM codebase
Thanks for sharing your experience- I hope you continue recovering and improving.
I live in a high tick area as well. Did you notice any symptoms before the eyesight?
I had a few bites but since the rashes went away my doc said no need for antibiotics unless rashes come back or I get flu like symptoms, etc.
Sorry - should have been specific in top-level comment (cant edit now). I was referring to this one:
https://github.com/aspiers/stow/issues/33Basically, the --dotfiles option was not working with directories so you had to have things that look like this: lazygit/.config/lazygit and now it looks like: lazygit/dot-config/lazygit.
Really a small issue that bugged me forever - shouldn't have made it seem like it was core a problem with stow!

Gnu stow has finally been updated to fix a long standing issue so I can once again wholeheartedly recommend it again! It’s lightweight and uses symlinks. Last I checked, chezmoi has a symlink mode but it’s a bit worse.
I had this exact same experience - it was (and is) hard to explain to other non-religious people who haven't seen it. I'm not even particularly prone to being moved to tears by beauty... one of the few times in my life this happened to me.
Do you add back in minerals for flavor/taste then?
