At the end of the article there is a brief description of the global history of stories of the sharing of crops with humans by gods. It is by a different author. In the list it includes Mexico. I was under the impression that the history of corn is fundamentally different than the main crops of the 6 pristine civilizations in that it was not as ready for consumption when first encountered by humans and that it required more coaxing from a smaller form to what it became. Is this a myth? Or were wheat and rice more readily available as nutrition from the time of human discovery?

Great talk. AI feels like a slippery slope all day every day. 3 hrs into the day and I am deep in the mud of it before I wake up and pull myself out.

There’s a box within a box feeling to this thread. We are on a contemporary digital community platform talking about an article about community communication. It is remarkable that there are members here from this rural area. Is the rhetoric of the article sentimental? Topics motivated by the article : capitalism, poverty, health, communications, the future. The last 2 lines of the article are that the guitar is in the corner with dust and that the author, Jordan Sallama doesn’t use Facebook anymore but Jorge Elías Pereyra now does. This journalist is in NYC, USA listening to broadcasts in rural Argentina and then creating a story. How does the vibe of the article affect this comment thread? Yes, the contract between Milei and Musk for Starlink is depressing, but the nostalgic feel or point of view of the article is distressing.
