I've always thought that deadlock was a feature instead of a bug. If half the population is for it and half is against it then nothing should happen legislatively.

Management and entrepreneurship can be learned. That's what MBAs are for.
Hell, the only reason I know what servant leadership IS is because I took a business degree about 10 years into my software career.

That is 100% a leadership problem. There is a cult around Minimum Viable Product but that can be mitigated by technical leaders who are willing to stonewall the business leaders on unit tests and documentation. I don't even bother telling them that testing and documentation are separate tasks and roll it into development time.

Absolutely its complete BS. All companies use ERP systems like SAP and PeopleSoft which already calculate all of the complicated rules, so any changes to tax law are vetted (hopefully) by tax professionals and software engineers before release. Compare this with the average tax filer (or HR Block employee), who has no fucking idea what they're supposed to do.

We can't even afford fresh college graduates. But we can afford Oracle.

When did an entire industry of people get pre-judged as lying? Don’t we exist in a country where the default assumption is innocence not guilt?
Fucking LOL. I demand tests not to see whether you can write a for loop, my wife has an art degree and can do that. I demand tests to see if you bothered to comment your code, use version control, use tests, and actually put in some custom logic instead of boilerplate CRUD. There are so many people who fail those basic tasks, its unreal. Plus, programmers SUCK at interviews, so why even bother giving it any weight? Show me talent in the homework and I'll hire you.
