It isn't, except it is. lol.
Re:Welcome to Waifu Labs v2: How Do AIs Create? on Wednesday January 12, 2022 @12:39AM (#29902752)
I made a waifu, then I pressed save. It wanted me to signup so I pressed back so I could just rightclick saveas but... I lost my waifu forever now :(

Slack isn't feature complete in their webapp if they even still have it. vscode.dev is new, the app existed for a long time. In practice, its the reverse; it allows you to turn an app into a website and add yet another supported platform.
Re:Wind whipped fires raging through Boulder County on Thursday December 30, 2021 @09:07PM (#29744038)
This is terrifying, the wind is letting the fire jump huge gaps.
Re:Ask HN: Anyone looking to fund a NFT Marketplace? on Sunday December 26, 2021 @05:55PM (#29697168)
because I tried your way and it was a big fail.
Re:Ask HN: Anyone looking to fund a NFT Marketplace? on Sunday December 26, 2021 @02:44AM (#29690524)
Just do a less-than-legal presale on BSC or ETH. Build reputation in the crypto trading market, join Telegram and find the trading groups. Don't try to find angel investors.
Re:Be curious, not judgmental on Friday December 24, 2021 @01:04AM (#29670779)
Not directly about a lightbulb, but I've learned that when you see something and think "why is it this way, that's stupid" its usually not. People don't make things "stupid" for no reason.
Same here, I would have never paid if insurance didn't cover it. I also realized a lot of my problems were due to being young and I think I would have gotten over it all anyway.
My concern is these apps will make the situation worse, I don't buy the argument of "something needs to be done so lets just do the easiest thing"
Re:Open letter from the BMJ to Mark Zuckerberg on Saturday December 18, 2021 @05:26PM (#29609195)
there is no difference, I put it in quotes because its newspeak.
Re:Firefox Profilemaker on Saturday December 18, 2021 @05:25PM (#29609187)
Launch firefox with the -p flag and you'll have a profile interface.
Re:Open letter from the BMJ to Mark Zuckerberg on Friday December 17, 2021 @02:17PM (#29597013)
"fact checking" is bad. I'm not sure what the good version of it you imagine. By "fact checking in general" do you mean pointing out when someone is wrong? The parent comment sees fact checking as one thing: propaganda used to shut down heterodoxy. It has nothing to do with facts or truth.
Re:The Third Web on Friday December 17, 2021 @11:58AM (#29594860)
A lot of you guys have no idea what you're talking about. If you're on hn and salty you missed blockchain until now, don't start thinking about writing a blogpost on it. We have enough of these, and they are all the same. If you get it, you get it. If not, you'll just be left behind (maybe your shitty blogpost will sell as an nft one day)
Re:Ask HN: How can I stop worrying and start living? on Thursday December 16, 2021 @07:24PM (#29586004)
It seems from the comments on the video that your joke has actually been the case for a few people. Sometimes what's needed is a new perspective and a "worthless platitude".
Re:Improving GitHub Code Search on Wednesday December 08, 2021 @02:18PM (#29489094)
I always thought the search was purposely bad and overly limited to prevent scraping for credentials.
He shouldn't be allowed to act on it. That's how we are in this mess. His ability to do any more damage should be immediately removed.
Re:The pandemic has deepened an epidemic of loneliness on Tuesday December 07, 2021 @11:02AM (#29473995)
Society sucks. Everything we do ends up only making conditions worse, perhaps its time for a radical new way of living.
Re:Debunking Cloudflare’s recent performance tests on Monday December 06, 2021 @05:48PM (#29466748)
point #2 is silly. So basically your product is slower but its ok cuz its a beta only... Fine. But then cf did not mislead anyone. Your beta is slow.
lol. Because people aren't always rational. And what does the NYT or her fame have to do with it? Anyone can lie at any time. And accusing someone of lying isn't ad hominem.
Vaccines cannot save us if this is the case. A variant evolving immune evasion in another species before jumping back to humans can't be stopped.
The alternative would be doing it with some honesty. The measures don't work, but they were a nice attempt.
Modifying the procedures and allowing people to work before they're through arbitrary redtape does. The EUA the vaccine received is the same concept. The reason the vaccine was developed faster wasn't just the number of scientists working on it, but the amount of funding directed towards it. Increasing money to education programs would increase the amount of people they can train, allow for further optimizations to be developed etc.
So does developing a vaccine usually. We should be taking extraordinary measure not saying "oh that will take too long don't even start"
Re:Proof of stake is incapable of producing a consensus on Sunday November 28, 2021 @04:00AM (#29367358)
Not really, its unfair but not a scam. Can we talk about the actual scam known as layer 2 rollup chains? Optimism is completely centralized and even Vatalik is shilling it like a good thing. At least the PoS shill makes sense, it artificially benefits early adopters.
Re:Show HN: Randomly create beautiful website layouts on Friday November 26, 2021 @02:10PM (#29353069)
just a light joke :). I really like your stuff please don't get rid of any of it! Been a paying customer for months, mostly using the editor.
Re:Show HN: Randomly create beautiful website layouts on Friday November 26, 2021 @11:11AM (#29351421)
Its called shuffle.dev because the website keeps pivoting too.
Re:Installing Windows and Linux into the same partition on Saturday November 20, 2021 @01:27PM (#29290543)
reddit r/vfio and the arch wiki page here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF there's also the level1tech forums which have a ton of information on it. The gist of it is this: Qemu with uefi boot, configured through virt-manager, passing in both the gpu and windows boot disk (nvme) as raw devices to the vm.
Re:Installing Windows and Linux into the same partition on Saturday November 20, 2021 @12:23PM (#29289957)
Using VFIO passthrough and qemu I have the opposite of this which is really convenient, a windows disk that can boot as a vm or normally.
Re:I would like closure, but I'll take honesty on Thursday November 18, 2021 @03:03PM (#29269755)
All true, but the problem seems to be people who don't know him are screwing him over and preventing him from making new friends so to speak.
Re:Helion on Friday November 05, 2021 @01:35PM (#29122368)
His other recent investment is the glowing orb worldcoin. I think its safe to say the second, and in the off chance it works, put it down as luck.
