Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @07:57AM (#50351447)
Sorry but in 5 years your post will have aged very badly as future LLMs modify weights in ways we can’t even fathom today. Respectfully you must realize when you are out of your depth.
This is only for mice, it has not been demonstrated in humans and the effect probably doesn’t scale up well.
They should have elected an all powerful leader, whose word is absolute. Bureaucracy is designed as mitigation for individual human incompetence. You do not need it once you are an all powerful, all knowing being.
The problem won’t be because of AI code, it will be because the people controlling the AI have made incorrect fundamental decisions, which would lead to the same problem even if humans were the ones coding.
Except now that no one cares about handwritten code, maybe instead people will celebrate the diversity of ways one can write code to do things. Might see a resurgence in little artisanal videos like these
I’m tired of the “omg huge externalities!” argument.

The externalities can literally be solved with just more AI. Especially even better AI as it emerges every year. Problems that primitive agents created back in 2024 have now long been solved by the advanced agents of 2026. And in 2028, agents will solve problems the 2026 agents leave behind.

There is never going to be a moment where a massive problem created by AI finally arrives and everyone throws their hands up and says “oh no we should have just coded by hand all along!” Most software doesn’t really even live that long before it has to be changed due to new requirements.

Every problem will be solved by AI and if not then everything just gets trivially rewritten.

Mind you, we have not even entered the insane era yet where local LLMs etched in silicon chips will be putting out code at an insane 16k/tokens per second for just the cost of electricity. Let that sink in.

It’s over for handwritten code (in professional contexts).

All web pages should be WASM binaries now.

Japanese will say it looks bad.
Re:Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:29PM (#50318133)
The US has not failed yet, only grown unpleasant for certain groups of people.
Re:Casio Watches of the 1980s on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:25PM (#50318093)
If you're Japanese and don't know or interact much with English characters and words it probably looks cool. Similar to how people tattoo random Japanese/Chinese characters on their bodies.
Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:16PM (#50318023)
Then there is no reason to have engineers at all.
The AI bubble is not going to burst. At my company, we could easily spend 2x more per employee on AI. Easily. And I know at several other companies that is also the case.

So, very easily these companies can get twice as much revenue over night. And that’s only the beginning. AI has very low churn.

People think they’re doing something trying to tie common foods to bugs.

In parts of the world people regularly eat bugs and bug products, sometimes raw. We should be eating more bugs, they are a much more sustainable source of protein to grow and when processed you can’t even tell you are eating a bug. I’ve eaten cookies made of cricket flour. Delicious.

No but we use MCP so we’re fine.
Re:We ran AI agent swarms in Minecraft and Mindustry on Thursday October 29, 2026 @09:50PM (#50298921)
Are you making a subtle reference to the Bobiverse series?
Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @08:32PM (#50298331)
that's a pointless endeavor. The seniors should just be building everything, not wasting time working on a harness that won't guarantee results anyway.
Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:35PM (#50291816)
Just because you’re not a good developer, doesn’t mean you can’t be a “good” developer.
Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:27PM (#50291680)
The problems is the best devs aren’t the ones doing all the work. You have shitty devs too who are barely thinking or checking anything mixing slop code in with what whatever the best devs are doing, so it all eventually turns to shit.
What do you mean? you’re on HN.
Re:Requests, Please on Thursday October 29, 2026 @10:45AM (#50289952)
Please keep the missed attacks on screen instead of rushing to the next request and just leaving some error log.
Re:Show HN: UK Farming Simulator on Thursday October 29, 2026 @09:13AM (#50288453)
I gave up as soon as I saw the slow moving loading bar.

You need to really prioritize getting the player to something interesting on screen as quickly as possible and then loading things in the background.

A few seconds is all you get in this world, if you don’t sieze it, you’re internet roadkill.

Re:Formlabs Studio 1 $699 Resin Printer on Thursday October 29, 2026 @07:31AM (#50287365)
After discovering SendCutSend, I put away these childish 3D printer fantasies and just have my parts made from pure metal and delivered quick and easy. Enough with plastics and resins, use REAL materials.
Re:OpenAI's agents talked to each other through the CPU Cache on Thursday October 29, 2026 @07:23AM (#50287313)
I’ve seen remote agents communicate through tracert.

They never wanted you.
the pendulum will eventually swing back and most of these fucks will be thrown in prison.
Re:Opus 5.5 causing an identity crisis is real on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @08:43AM (#50272689)
Your competitive advantage should be used in the service of others and the benefit of society, not self enrichment and status games.

He enjoyed the intellectual superiority over others more than the mastery of the skill.
Re:Early progress on accelerating drug development with Claude on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @08:10AM (#50272326)
What about within 5 years?

Humans are just organic simulation environments for these drug trials.

it can be simulated to a very high fidelity.
Re:Amazon Is Gutting Its AI Division After Sustained Failure on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @09:20PM (#50268213)
AI is not about productivity. It's about weaponizing the ability to ship fast go-to market features in the blink of an eye when it becomes necessary. If trends change fast and you can't adapt quickly with AI: you're dead. So you need to have AI ready to go, just in case.
