I'm no Meta apologist, but I don't know if we can blame them on this one. Unfortunately in the digital age, everything reverts to the mean so quickly. It probably turns out that the most effective way to capture user attention is to give them an algo feed of addictive slop.

Unfortunately capturing user attention is also the best way to sell advertising, so it makes sense that all their products converged on algo feeds.

Is this true? I've tried for months to get people to talk to me about their problems and the most common answer I get is "everything's... fine?".
Congrats on the launch!!

Ply Health (YC S24) | Founding Engineer, Product | Full-time | NYC | $120K-$180K + equity | https://www.plyhealth.com/

We use AI to help healthcare providers enroll with insurance networks so they can start billing. We've been growing quickly and are almost at the point of turning away customers because we don't have enough engineering capacity to service them. We're looking for our second engineer who will focus on customer-facing product features to help wrangle the frustrating and complex world of healthcare administration.

This person will have a hand in all of our core systems, interact closely with our customers and their pain points, and work with an ex-FAANG, ex-YC engineering team.

This role is on-site only in NYC.

Contact david [at] plyhealth.com if interested!

YMMV but the one hedge fund offer I got required putting 50% of the bonus into the fund itself, which then vests out over 4 years. I was told this is industry standard, so it's analogous to the 4 year RSU vesting you'd get at FAANG.

What negative selection does it result in? For people that can't network to a co-founder themselves?
Re:Why you should not apply to YC on Saturday April 20, 2024 @04:25PM (#40100725)
My understanding is that the standard deal is more like $2MM at 20%. Raising that at 5% is an insanely good ideal.

What would be the correct way to set up security to prevent this?
Amazing, is there anywhere I can follow along to find out when form filling will be available?
Glad to see people building in the PDF space, which as a format is unfortunately both awful and ubiquitous. Are you planning to build any support for programmatically filling out existing PDF forms? That's a huge pain point our product is facing that doesn't seem easy to solve.

Anyone have any good resources for SaaS UI design inspiration?
Would be very interested in reading about SB. Has it already been posted?

Yeah, I'd bet that there was probably only a handful of people like this in the entire intern class. I wouldn't put all my effort or hold out for a case like this. Your time would be better spent doing LeetCode.

Whose essays do you like? I'm always looking for good writing to read.
Re:Ask HN: How to not bring emotion from work back home? on Wednesday June 07, 2017 @09:48PM (#14511285)
I feel that this is trying to treat the symptom rather than the cause. It's definitely not normal to come home feeling like you want to snap. Whether it's your work environment, or your personal circumstances, I don't know, but I think looking into changing one of those would be the more effective choice here.

Former intern here: they don't do SF internships as far as I know. The office is made of <10 engineers and can't support an internship program.
How long were you working for before you decided to go back to medical school? I'm thinking about it, but the long schooling time is putting me off.
