Re:The Rise and Fall of the Plasma Screen on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @10:01PM (#50190241)
I have a 50" Panasonic plasma tv too as my bedroom TV. It's going to outlast my 2018 Samsung Frame TV that's having some type of backlight failure
We saw him live in Kansas City in 1998. He soloed for 36 choruses on St. Thomas. Gave the people what they came to see. Amazing to have so many ideas flow effortlessly.
Re:Apple introduces the new MacBook Air with M5 on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @02:22PM (#47237459)
$350 windows box probably isn't silent like the MBA
Re:Apple introduces the new MacBook Air with M5 on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @02:21PM (#47237437)
I have the M1 MBA and M5 MBP. The wedge MBA feels noticeably thinner and the MBP feels kind of chonky in comparison. It's a bigger difference moving them one-handed than the specs would indicate.

Re:Facebook is cooked on Friday February 20, 2026 @05:31PM (#47094915)
I did "not interested" & "This post makes me uncomfortable" for a solid month and now have a reliable feed of comedians, tacos, golden retrievers, classic jazz drummers, etc. The algorithm thought I turned Mexican and gave me exclusively Spanish content for a month but I just kind of went along with it.
Re:Notice of Collective Action Lawsuit Against Workday, INC on Monday January 26, 2026 @04:28PM (#46771807)
Regardless of merit, this seems like appropriate payback for having to make a new workday account for every single company you apply to a job.

I've made the L. reuteri "yogurt" from the BioGaia Gastrus tablets from amazon and it works well. First batch is a little watery but after that it pretty much looks like greek yogurt when I use half and half.

Re:Open models by OpenAI on Tuesday August 05, 2025 @02:49PM (#44802469)
On a M1 MacBook Air with 8GB, I got this running Gemma 3n:

12.63 tok/sec • 860 tokens • 1.52s to first token

The "Make Your Bed" speech by US Navy Admiral William McRaven

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NudLfyl2cXc

I picked it up from Tim Ferriss, "The goal is visual tidiness, not Four Seasons."

One of my friends said his prior company (Fortune 50 size) had one of the big consulting companies come in for an assessment. The main takeaway was too much time spent in meetings. They banned afternoon meetings and put time spent in meetings as a KPI on performance reviews for managers (I think there was a 4hr daily maximum as a target)
Malicious compliance would involve reviewing the action items from the 50 minute meeting at the beginning of the 10 minute meeting

$633 (USD) per month in Zimbabwe is crazy. I could see Starlink becoming the internet backbone for micro-ISPs to slice.

If you are self-employed, you can make the normal employee contributions and your employer (also you) can make the additional contributions of roughly 25% of salary. For 2025 this would be a total of 70k instead of the normal 23k

My McDonald's app has a daily 25% off coupon. I feel like it's a glitch but it has been persistent for over a year. Two of us can eat for $13
